Hello everyone
Just making this post to see what everyone thinks is the defining factor(or a few but would really like just one)that you like most about WoW compared to other games you have played. Thanks for your responses =)

It is fun.

Seriously that is the best part for me, it is friggin fun from lvl 1 to lvl 20 (I haven't gotten farther than 20 so can't comment personally).

Well, great graphics, great story etc aside...as was said above, it is fun...and one of the primary reasons it is fun is that you can group or solo and do so effectively and have fun doing it. Most people cannot always sink a lot of time into a group...it is nice to be able to log in for 30 minutes or an hour and actually accomplish something.
#4 Nov 19 2004 at 11:07 AM Rating: Decent
The quest system. It's easy to see who has a quest and what level you need to be to complete and weather you will need a group or not. The rewards are generally good exp and money or a nice item for harder quests.

Exploding chickens and infernals as of last night, that was my favorite thing in the game :)

That is what I'm going to love about it... FFXI simply takes too long to do ANYTHING. :\

That the item you get from doing a fun quest, is actually useful at the level you get it. That is if you can equip it, and if not at least you can sell it for a little cash :-).

I got so tired of doing quests that by the time you could DO the quest the item was very subpar for your lvl.

Well, since I am an EQ convert I can tell you that this games is so much more enjoyable than EQ from the second you logon. I was lucky to get into the beta and although my guildmates in EQ may not like this, I will most likely not be playing EQ any longer except to drop by and say hi from time to time.

Tradeskills:

Granted we could use some more (fletching for example), however in most skills you can tradeskill and adventure at the same time (blacksmithing and smelting does require a forge or anvil). I dont have to sit for hours (literally in EQ) making the same useless item over and over to gain skill. I can make items I can actually use and/or sell from the second I start making them. Which brings up the next item.

Auction House:

Anyone familiar with the Bazaar in EQ will love this. I thought EQ's method for player selling was completely asinine. I was forced to stop adventuring and sit my character in a single location for hours on end to hopefully sell something. I couldn't even logoff the system, I had to leave my computer connected all night long. That was nuts! The ability to drop my wares at the auction house on my way out to quest or adventure is great.

I've had more fun in the short time in beta than I have had in the 6+ months of EQ play. I can solo effectively or can group (though the group xp needs some work) There are more quests than you can imagine. The graphics are fantastic and I dont need an extremely high end system to run the game. I will be definately getting this the second the doors open on Tuesday =)

Not much to add - all said above. Coming from EQ the greatest thing is the sheer number of appropriate, clear and timely quests. Secondly I love the in-play info as to what the various icons do and make - no longer have to constantly alt-tab to allakhazzam for info - can wait till packs are full. Third - not having to worry about money weight - esp. for a caster. Finally is the posibility to solo till you get to hard quest - then easy to find someone in area to help - cause all at about same level.
That's it for now.

Blizzard runs a forum and actually listens to their players. That's my favorite thing about it, right now. So many online games seem to have this "we're the developers, so we're right, and you're wrong" complex that's just so annoying.

I don't know how much they actually listen to us, but just having that official space is a plus in my book.

I feel like I'm playing a game rather than paying every month to work like in other MMO's.

The best feature is that I can log on and play. What drove me away from other games was that they included nothing for me to do on my own schedule. I love working with teams, but being forced to find a team or do nothing leads to too much of the latter.

There is so much good about the quest system that I hardly know where to begin.

The fact that I can put as much effort into my character as I did in FFXI and not only do I feel more better about my character but I am also proud of the amount of quests I have done in comparison to others at my level.

During the beta I continously ran into other mages around my levels that had almost no gear at all or had the basic gear you can buy from the NPC vendors while all of mine was crafted or recieved from quests. It was very enjoyable and Rhaelic will be well missed......or until I recreate him this Tuesday!

Hands down I just really enjoyed this game far more than City of Heroes, Final Fantasy XI, or Lineage 2.

number 1 thing?

QUESTS

literally, it drives the game to 60. If EQ had WoW's quest system, I'd still be playing it, since I'd have a reason to do so.

Repeat after me: RANDOMIZED EQUIPMENT! I just love the fact that I can personally equip my character and make him hella unique without people saying "Hey, you need this, this and this or you'll be gimped" Since drops are damn close to being random with the exchange of prefixes and surfixes that determine the final outcome of the equipment's stats, no 2 characters will be the same.

Raids is a second thing I love about WoW. Its very controlled since you really need to make the extra effort of actually surviving guards to actually raid the opposite faction's towns. Risk vs Rewards is the perfect way of describing it. The moment you get involved in a raid, however, there's a epic feeling that comes with hundreds of characters clashing for control of a certain key point of the battlefield, lessening the opposing faction's numbers and the clever ways people tend to hold control of battles (like the Alliance's idea to control the tower outside of Crossroads)

Last but not least, the ease of gameplay. You can get on, play for an hour and accomplish something. This is the best MMO in this regards and is by far the best MMO out simply because of this. People may say that ease of gameplay ruins the entire point of MMOs but I say it only strengthens it. Thanks, Blizzard, because within 8 months (with Starcraft, Warcraft 3, Diablo 2 and now WoW...wasn't into PC gaming before I bought all these games :)) you guys managed to prove to me time and again why you are the best example of what gaming should be.

Graphics, a given... Quests are awesome, not just because you can get money or items, but experience as well! :) I loved the fact that you didn't have to sit around and wait for a group to get xp (as in ffxi). You can kill stuff with ease, even as a 25 priest. lol I completely agree with everyone else when I say the game is just all around FUN! I loved ffxi until I got in on this beta, and now I can't even log into ffxi without being insanely bored thinking of all the farming bs I have to do to get anywhere in the game. Come the 23rd, my boyfriend and I will be saying farewell to our char's on ffxi, and building our new char's on WoW. ;)

Thanks for the posts! I too belive I shouldnt haft to quit my job and live with my parents to become a good eq player (lil humor :P) but that asside, I myself found the quests VERY refreshing(ive probubly completed nearly every quest a bst could do on EQ) and they are almost always subpar and just there as time sinks...again thanks for the posts =)

This game is just loads of fun and the questing is a big part of that. Also the fact that you can solo and actually make some progress is awesome. I love grouping, but sometimes its much more productive to do my own thing when I have time. When you can solo stuff 90% or so of the time I think that's a plus. I had a druid to lvl 17 and only HAD to group for quests on 3 occasions to complete them.

Its much less of an exp grind like EQ, that again is contributed to the questing element which sort of works the monster killing grinds into the questing w/o you realizing it. Plus the rewards for the quests in terms of money, exp, usable/sellable equipment are awesome.

The storyline, the environments, the characters, it is all just fantastic. I can't wait for the 23rd.

This is the way MMORPG's are supposed to be IMHO, thank you Blizzard for getting it right!

I start playing around 3 pm. Dinner rolls through, I'm still having fun. Sun goes down, still having fun. Alarm rings and it's time for work, I've lost another night of sleep but I'm still having fun.

I haven't played a game that kept my attention like this and was still fun 14 hours later in the same game session. I logged as many or more continuous hours on EQ and FFXI, but after about hour 4 I was getting sick of it and mostly stayed on out of dedication to my guild or friends. All in all, World of Warcraft is just plain fun on all levels. I haven't found a portion of it that I dislike, nothing that I hate doing because of how boring/tedious it is.

FOLLOW !!! People NOT IN YOUR GROUP!!!

I like the fact that when I started a priest, she could solo, when I started a warrior, he could solo, when I started a hunter he could solo... Go figure.

I simply loved the fact I was able to get quests done even if i was only online for 30 minutes. Crafting is a dream ...after the slaving at a forge in EQ for hours and now hitting combine in FFXI for woodworking; I can not say enough good things about the crafting system.
The fact I can solo or duo or group and am not forced to wait hours to form a group....what a wonderful thing. I will be happy to pay for WoW and wave goodbye to the other games I have.

Thank you once again Blizzard for making games FUN

Wasn't in beta, but my favorite thing that I keep hearing here and there.

There is no such thing as Cookie Cutter.

Personally knowing that my equipment build will actually DIFFER from others of the same job will be awesome. It will make me proud of my characters.

I like the fact it looks like I can still play this game and accomplish things while still having a life outside of a MMO. Seriously.
