Blizzard is annoying Non-North American, Aust, NZ players.Follow

personaly.. and i realise i may be mirroring parts of other peoples posts here...personaly i support the idea of the seperated servers.
blizz have every right to do it as well. quite simply, if you dont like it.. dont play.
id like it if people dont take that last phrase out of context though. as that is their right to decide on that.

i would like a few servers to be under a "global" setting, so you can Rp, PvP or PvE with people across the world, and meet friends whom you know in other countrys..

but i support blizz's descision because of one main factor..
it makes it harder for sweatshops, farmers, and people like IGE to ***** up a game like this..
in a game called lineage 2, there are spesfic chinese, japanese and korean servers, ones the rest of the world are not allowed into.
and then there are the north america servers which not only allow players from china and korea to play but everyone from the entire globe. while the differnt cultures playing on one server is a good thing.. what isnt a good thing is the people who cant speak english going into a dungeon, camping it like gang turf and farming the monsters for real life financial gain, and if you step on their turf, they kill steal you and even train monsteers on you to get you to leave.
dungeons that you need to enter to compleate quests that are integral to the developement of your charicter.
i NEVER want WoW to turn out like L2.. because lineage 2 is a good game. if it had a server filter like WoW plans to have.. it would be an amazeing game.

all of the "problems" with L2 were caused due to farming, such as insanely high prices and stupidly low drop rates.

its a similar case with FF11, anyone notice how Square enix "method" to stop bots was to make it impossible to fish? that ruined a part of the game for everyone and a huge factor that motivated square to make such a move was to stop people profiting from their game, in the case of selling money online over ebay or similar mediums.
with WoW's methods, Bind on pickup items, easy gameing, no grind just smooth gameplay and every so often "oh!.. cool! i leveld, i didnt even notice hehe" and the server segregation.
all this means, that places like IGE will have such a hard time trying to "make a buck" in WoW they may just very well give up on trying to wreck this game.

and that i view as a very very good thing. because i think WoW has some intense potential, further than we have experanced in just the open beta.. and that kinda potential is kinda exciteing, dont you think? ^_^

It's true! I be wacky. So wacky that Blizzard doesn't want me playing their game =(

Its true :(

As an aussie, i really cant complain, but i'm baffled as to why only we and NZ got to play straight away. Why not the UK at least, it doesnt make sense! I knew several singaporean players from my Ultima Online days, and you guys really do have it rough in terms of gaming... treated like the rest of asia but your country is pretty different, seems like a lot of english speakers there judging by their impressive knowledge of the english language. I cant really understand their release plan, but i'm sure there are reasons. I dont really buy that language is an issue, or timezone since AUS and NZ are way off the US timezone. Perhaps some sort of legal, logistic or administrative issue.

Then again, perhaps its as simple as a few developers having AUS or NZ wives... who knows?

It has nothing to do with races or languages, it has to do with customer service and latency...
THAT IS ALL
I'm sure if enough Copies sell in those areas to warrant it, blizzard will set up localized servers for that area of the world. How many copies will they sell in say Austalia? Is it enough people to warrant another support staff?
I've played several MMO's and have to say i agree with this choice 100%, I'm for anything that reduces lag. Heck, i'd pay more for even a state specific server. I live in florida, I bet more copies will be sold in Florida than in Australia and New Zealand combined and we wont get our own server.I have experience latency "black holes" around friends on dial -up that live in the states. Play any shooter with a friend you know is on dial-up, watch your framerate drop as you near him/her.What will it be like with thousands of dial-ups from across the planet? WoW's quality depends on a smooth running game and localized servers are a big step in acheiving this. At least Blizzard is one of the few companies that actually care about their quality.
It's a sound business choice. They know they will get the money in their core market, North America. This is a game that has been in development for 5 years, 5 years of blizzard throwing millions of dollars into a project that has yet to produce one dime. let em make some money, get more investors, and then I'm sure they will try to take advantage of more markets.
That being said,
THIS IS A GAME. THIS IS NOT THE U.N. IF YOU MADE A PLEA OR PETITION THAT DIDN'T FALSELY ACCUSE THE COMPANY OF RACISM THEY MIGHT HAVE LISTENED AND MADE INTERNATIONAL SERVERS YOU DOLT!!!
No one likes being accused of something like that , and no you wont scare them by leveling that charge.
and dont fool yourself, 95% of the players will choose reduced latency and better customer service for wide open servers anyday.

Misinformed much?

Other people's latency has no direct impact on your own latency. This is a complete non-factor as a reason WoW is only being released in certain countries. The worst problem associated with being around someone who is lagging is that they have crappy responsiveness, and depending on the game, unpredictable movements (which is worse for them than it is for you). In an MMORPG, a lagging player has NO effect on your connection. Now they may get you killed if you're waiting for a timely heal, but that isnt a problem that stems from their connection ruining your connection.

Did you even read the thread? WoW will be released in NA (ie, USA, Canada) and also, for some unknown reason, Australia and New Zealand. I completely agree with you that sales in Florida will probably exceed AUS and NZ combined (and i'm an aussie myself), but that has no bearing on anything. The point is, it IS being released in AUS and NZ, so that rules out timezone suitability, latency, and customer service as reasons the rest of the world has been left out. I'd also point out that once they fixed the item lag issue (which was server side) i found WoW to be an enjoyable, lag-free experience overall. Just like most US-based MMORPG's are for those of us outside the country.

Yeah, you're right, I am being selfish. I admit that. I also could care less. That's one of the great things about being selfish.

I'm one of a large number of FF players that got burned repeatedly because servers were not localized or region specific. Hell, I don't care if they do open a few servers in the US to other nations, but I sure as hell won't be playing on them. As long as I have the option to play on NA or NA/EU onlys servers, I'll be pleased. Once bitten, twice shy.

I myself would not mind Non-American people to join in NA servers to a point but after playing games like Lineage II and FFXI I dont know now. All I got in those games were things like, "You go now." and "Leave or PK." I mean if this is all that non-american people have to offer then dont come into our servers not to sound racist.
