Coming from the UK, I have to say this sectioning of servers goes against everything the internet and MMO's in general, stand for, I played on american servers on EQ way before they even thought of making europe ones, hence I have lotsa friends from the states who I'm not going to be able to see in this game, good friends who along with me, have been looking forward to play with myself and my rl friends (too many of us, too many of them, sure could swap addresses etc etc, but should we really have to?)
By all means, having the regional servers is a good idea, but to remove all options of joining another regions server(knowing, and excepting the fact you WILL get a poorer GM service, you WILL get culture clashes etc etc) is a bad move, sure i'll still play the game, i'm obsessed with it atm, but I do know it'll be all the worse for these enforced boundries, after all, isn't the internet about crossing the bounderies? seeing life on the other side of the fence? bringing people together?
I can adjust, and sure will make great friends on a europe server, i'm sure they'll even be "like-minded" to me, but they won't be my buddy keeron from the deep south, or my late night companion from Arizona, if you can't understand why people are complaining about this after reading this, maybe you think the whole internet should be the same? each to our selves? Just a thought, I mean no offense, just hoping maybe people could try and put themselves in these shoes just for a few seconds and see that there is a genuine concern here, for genuine reasons
