It's certainly a valid point, but it's still speculation. Once again I say:

If Blizzard didn't say it, it's not a fact.

Open Beta could come any day, I actually find it more likely that it will come sooner than the 8th, but either is possible.

You give too much credit though, beta tester or not, running this site or not, they are still not employees of Blizzard. Even employees of Blizzard can't give us any info right now so why put stock in something a non-employee says? This is an excellent WoW site, but it still won't give any extra insight into the future of facts of the release. Merely claiming that Open Beta will begin within the next two weeks is a very likely and logical deduction. That still doesn't mean it will happen.

Let's just see what really happens rather than spreading more rumors and getting people's hope up for something that may not be true.

What I'm saying is I've heard enough speculation and at this point, if it isn't a fact that Blizzard confirms, I'd rather not hear about it.

I may be wrong, but I'm thinking a lot of people feel the same way.

Please drop it.

That dwarf has a name that is the same one as this site, that is all. Their post is not a fact, it is not proven, and it means nothing. EB is the only store with this release date, in fact not a single store out there has official information or they would all have the same date listed. Give it a rest until hard evidence is released.

Speculation is ok, and fun, but do not present these speculations as fact simply because someone used a popular name when they said it.

In my hometown area they have an advertising campaign where everyone with a famous persons name endorses cell-phones. "Jennifer Lopez is out endorsing our Nextel phones!" but this is not the Jennifer Lopes, just a Jennifer Lopez. It is just silly to think that is the real Allakhazam.

The sheer amount of useless information leaking over to these boards is beginning to annoy me. I ask everyone to leave the useless rumors in the Beta forums where they belong.

The best thing to do is run around your room, flapping your arms and shouting "Im a Bird, Im a Bird!". Its the universal solution to all of mankinds problems. Da Vinci tried it and so should you.

Correct me if I am wrong but eq 2 is shipping by the 8th don't they ship a week before release so the packages get there in time for the launch date? So basically is it for sure the the eb games ship date the same day as the live launch date? It would seem to me eb games would want to ship out earlier because otherwise it would not be so appealing to order a game online the day it goes live knowing you will have to wait several day's before you can play.

Actually, when the site says shipping on the 8th, they mean they will ship it to YOU on the 8th. I fully believe EQ2 will ship then because SOE is a bunch of idiots rushing a game out for the sake of dollars and to beat WoW to release.

WoW was in beta for many months more than EQ2 yet EQ2 is coming out first. A lot of people had speculated that this might happen.

I do agree that it would be wise for WoW Open Beta to start right before EQ2 release, but there is nothing to say that it will for a fact.

The Dwarf named Allakhazam is actually played by the person who runs this site. Despite that fact, it doesn't mean that they have any more insight over any other beta tester. The fact is that a lot of people have made reasonable deductions some of which have come true and some which have not. While what was said was likely, you can't count on it any more than anything else said.

I know you are just excited to give out info you heard, but a lot of people are now more frustrated than excited with the wait.

I hope OB comes soon because if it doesnt im going to have to buy EQ2 when it releases lol. I need a MMORPG fix - i know all the WoW fans will flame EQ2 but the EQ2 fans flame WoW so its hard to really tell without seeing for myself.

One of the biggest downsides to EQ2 is that it requires a much more robust PC to run on. Thus a very large portion of the community will have no real choice in the game they choose unless they want to upgrade.

While it's easier to take a person's word about EQ2, I understand that some people would rather see for themselves. The EQ2 people flaming WoW probably never actually played it. I really can see someone who's played WoW and EQ2 actually liking EQ2 more.

I will say, if you are interested in EQ2, I'd sooner recommend checking it out at a friends house on their account rather than wasting the money yourself. Just my thoughts though.

For reference, I was in the WoW "Stress Test" and am in the EQ2 beta, so I do feel qualified to compare the two games. In the end it is all subjective at it is merely my opinion, but I believe a lot of people who play both will feel the same.

Anyone out there wanna give me an EQ 2 Beta Account they dont want seeing as you all hate it lol =p

Edit: I ask this because i have no RL friends that play or will play EQ 2 =/. They are still all stuck on FF11, the few of my friends that play MMORPGs anyway

Beta accounts all have the IP addresses logged. Once you run the game you'll lose the account if another IP address runs it.

In the case of EQ2, it's connected to my regular station name and password. If I gave you the account I'd have to give you this info to run it. While I really don't play EQ anymore, I still won't give that info away, sorry. :(

Honestly I am starting to get a little mad at this open beta tight lip situation. It's one thing to build excitment but it's another to outright deceive the people.

I hope wow's customer relations will be better than this when the game goes live because right now with this particular situation I am very dissapointed. At least sony would have said something. There's a 12 page post stickied in the wow forums and there hasn't been any informative statment from blizzard for 2 weeks.

I think they have pushed this a little too far. They are frustrating and annoying most of their player base creating resentment. A good marketing gimmick that it going to backfire. They are loosing credibility. Next time they announce a new expansion or game I know I will ignore it why? Because I know they have a reputation for announcing stuff waay before they should and that the expansion is prolly years away.

Bah, Not for a While, that sounds even longer than "Coming Soon". I can understand why they posted "coming soon", they were kinda underpressure. What i dont understand is why they dont just come out and say on the news thing that it will be 1 m onth, 2 months, 2 weeks, they cant be so clueless as to not have a time frame. Theya rent really hyping anyone , just making us angry lol

Well, i say that "not for a while" is alot safer than saying 2 weeks or a week away. Alot can hapen in that time to scre wsutmhing up, and BAM, wut they said to be 2 weeks is now 3 or 4, and then EVERYONE is even more pissed. I think there playing it safe, and of course im gunna wait for it, much better game than EQ2 will ever be IMHO

I thinks its funny how so many people there say "Well I guess its EQ2 beta for me then!" just sayin that thinkin they will maybe "scare" blizz into starting OB.

Not to mention they have to be invited to EQ2 beta...lol

I'll admit, the peak time to have released the OB with respect to hype and demand has already passed... but more likely than not, the developers ran into several problems which delayed the release. Thus, people get angry and lose their cool before considering the other side of the equation. Though I'm disappointed, I'll definitely be there for the OB, whenever it is.

True, the prime time to launch it has passed, but even posting a message sayin, "Open Beta Sigh-ups Next Week" will start the entire rave over again, even moresoe cuz people can actualy rely on it. I do beleivwe that the INITIAL hype has died but there is so much more that can be brought out from it, as long as blizz gives us a smidgin of hope.
