This is not meant sarcastically, oddly enough.

We've been doing everything through dailies and daily tokens, it is nice to see content that you can pace yourself with, or do it all at once if you have a day off/extra time on your hands.

5.3 brings us the Battle in the Barrens; and its "Main" repeatable content (not counting the introductory quest) wants us to gather 150 Meat, Stone, Wood and Oil, for a once-a-week turn-in. Also while doing that you might find random purples, but are not equippable until you use a Mojo on them (that you get from the weekly).

I like this system! It isn't a "OMG MUST DO IT EVERY DAY" type thing, I can work on it a little here and there (15 a day, 30 a day, etc) as long as I get 150 of each sometime during the week.

Mom and I hit the Barrens up last night for about an hour and a half and got all 150 of everything and our weekly turned in. We only fought two commanders and escorted one caravan and then we were like "***** it, let's just kill junk".

With all of the dailies and tokens and such going around, I forgot how fun it was to "just kill junk", not to mention how profitable it was. Several stacks of cloth, several stacks of leather, lots of motes, and now Lesser Charms along with some green item drops had us making some decent amount of money for the time spent.

It easily was enough to give my tailor 14 days worth of Imperial Silk cooldowns saving me some planting time, lol.

It was nice. Not something I want to do EVERY patch, but it is nice to have a changeup.

I'm a LW, and the "meat" area and "stone" area can net me so much leather that I foresee me farming these spots instead of growing motes to change to leathers for my daily cooldown.

I also like not having to do dailies for 50 lesser charms. I did do a batch last night for only 18 charms (total of 28) and when I logged I had 49 if not 50+ lesser's from an hour's worth of farming different mobs while killing Generals for the weekly. I do wish luck was on my side and the purple items for the set building would drop for me.

I looked for it could, not find the blue post. If enough people like the new system were we are out killing things rather then doing dailies (basically what is going on in the barrens) Blizz may add more of it. I hate doing dailies after reputation has hit cap, but still need them damn Lesser coins, so I like this new system to still gain them in nice amounts by not having to do boring dailies I've already done day in and day out.

Uh.... growing motes to turn in for leather?

That's a waste... lol.

Use Raptorleaf plants instead.

You get 50-60 Leather Per Day out of 16 Raptorleaf, with a chance of a Magnificent Hide "drop".

Using Songbells to buy 20 leathers only gives you 20 leathers with the 6 motes left over, so that's 60 leathers every 2 days.

I think it was on MMO champ within the last 3 days, so try looking there. I remember reading that too, and yes you only need 50 charms a week and you can easily get that doing your weekly Barrens quota.

Just started "the grind" yesterday on my mage, but I've liked it so far. Got two of the epic drops off two consecutive enemies - boots and helmet. No need for the boots, as completing the chain gives you some 502 boots (the ones from the radical mojo are 489, right?), but the helmet will be a good upgrade over the 450 PvP one I've been using since I just dinged 90.

Not sure if I'll still have the same enthusiasm in several weeks, but for now it's great. Oh, and I'm loving that pet tamer dailies give VP now. Yay!

The barrens quests are fun and killing the generals for the weekly is great too. you can also farm them all week for the oil stone etc to purchase the "random" drops from the vendor. I did notice today actually that when i went to loot the dead Gen. there was a purple piece there and then it disappeared im guessing someone was faster thatn me. I would like to see them change that and award it to all people there..being as im using my hunter im far away when the mob drops so im normally last to the loot would be nice to get a fair shake at the drop :)

That purple is one of the same items you can buy from the NPC. I would suggest you farm one each week to go along with the weekly (if the 489 gear is an upgrade..my DK, who I have decided to gear now, gets a major use out of it, while my Monk does not), allows you to save resources and use them for the weekly instead.
They are also NOT BoP, so if you get multiples of each type (helm, body, feet, etc.) you can send them to alts or try and sell them.

ALL mobs can drop the purples, not just the Generals.

The general just happened to have dropped one, or they have a higher chance to drop it.

Either way, IMO, the best way to do the Weekly is purely on mob kills.

You get a stinking crapton of cloth if you're a tailor, and if you have a skinner friend, crapton of skins if you kill mainly flame dogs for the Stone.

Oh, and on the subject of Groups.

When Resources drop, everybody in the group can loot them, even the normal non-general mobs.

Just finished the Weekly for the first time and it was okay. Not great fun but I didn't hate it. When I want to grind I prefer the Isle of Giants. I don't know why but it appeals more to me. Most likely because DINOSAURS!! but who knows.

I'm enjoying it a lot. A couple or three days a week, my schedule is such that I can't queue for and complete an LFR in the time I have, but more time than just mail/AH/farm can take up - this will be something besides archaeology (damn pristine artifacts) that I can do in that time. Plus, at near-peak server times, there are "flash mobs" that go from commander to caravan to commander, break up to farm, then spontaneously reform when another commanders is up. It's /almost/ like having a community playing together in the world outside of cities (if we talked to each other, then it would be a community...).

Another thing I like is that everyone can contribute regardless of item level or LFR experience. I took my quest-geared feral druid there last week and just concentrated on interrupting, and was able to feel that I wasn't just leeching off the group to get my resources.

The flash mobs for the general are great, 'cuz some of them are down right nasty. Also don't fly away if you see the opposite faction grouping up on one, it's a free for all and both factions can tag and loot the corpse.

If you play on PvE, be careful what you target, trolls (not literal trolls) like to flag for PvP and then before you know it, half of the people are getting killed/attacking each other while a few smart ones are still focusing the boss. And when the boss is near death? Don't hit any ranged hotkeys if you don't want to be flagged lol.
