I'm going to go with "we need Tri Spec".
Each class has 3 specs, and now that they pretty much killed Prot PvP altogether with that stupid sledgehammer nerf to Vengeance, I find myself now, without any good PvP spec.
I have Prot, for doing dungeons. I also used this for getting PvP-type holiday achievements and the occasional BG here and there.
I have Ret, for doing solo quests. I don't like PvPing as ret, as it is too random and unreliable, and it is hugely dependent upon procs and luck, not to mention you simply MUST keep track of Zealotry, Inquisition, WoG timer, Wings, and a bunch of other crap just to have a fighting chance. The spec is a very poor spec for PvP in general.
So, I was think I'd like to have a Holy spec for PvP, only....
Right. I'm only allowed to have 2 specs. I'm not getting rid of my tank spec, and I don't want to get rid of my solo Ret either.
But yet I don't want to have to pay to respec every time I want to PvP either. So I guess my choices are to go in as Prot and pretty much twiddle my thumbs while throwing my shield here and there for sh*ts and giggles, or go in as Ret and probably die a lot. Nice. As if I didn't already have plenty of reasons to dislike PvP, they had to give me one more.
I always soloed as Prot, and it really didn't seem to slow me down much. There's something to be said when you can go pull 6 mobs and then take your time killing them. Makes it go pretty fast.
The thing of it is, though, is that solo questing is usually a bit slower, because there's no
need to go pulling 5-6 mobs at once, and there's many times where there's not really much benefit in doing so, and with the way most quests are set up, you see a mob here, a mob there... but no real opportunities to round em up, 'cept for a few places.
True, I could (I did for a long while) solo as Prot, but I've found it to be just plain faster per kill to do Ret.
This still doesn't excuse Blizz for using a Sledgehammer fix when a small nerf to
just Blood DKs would have done the job better, without gimping the two Prot specs at the same time. Paladins and Warriors were fine, there wasn't a need to nerf them too.
