Welcome to the game. Going through it the first time, there is so much to explore. Have fun. I play Alliance as well, and remember running through Stormwind with my map open. I also tried climbing up the back of Ironforge Mountain, before I found the road to it. Good times...
Thank you for your welcome, dadanox, and please forgive the lapse of time in my response. Each day in game I learn so much and become a bit more comfortable. I keep reminding myself of when I began EQ in 1999 and the learning curve involved. My first created EQ toon managed to drown THREE times in the Felwithe moat. Since I didn't know how to swim (or walk apparently
) nor how to get my corpse out of the moat, that toon was re-created until on the fourth try I decided to not enter Felwithe - or do *anything* until I went to a local game store and purchased the EQ guide. Like you said...good times.
As a sidenote, I am really annoyed with the conclusion of the Be Raptor line of quests in STV. I was having such fun with that quest, especially after getting the lil raptor hatchling that followed me around. Sooo cute! Then, had to give her to the mob boss as part of the quest.
At first I thought it was a trap of sorts, but then I saw by giving the raptor to the boss I got a reward and experience so thought...ok...there has to be a happy ending.
It took me about 6 hours over 2 days to *finally* get through the Be Raptor part of the quest without being netted and having to start again. That was an exercise in patience, persistence, and frustration
but Princess whoever kept intimating I'd be re-united with my lil raptor again which is why I was determined to complete that quest. Then I get strangled????? Really, Blizzard? I spend a good part of two days on that one part of a quest line and now learn I only get the raptor back at the end of a level 85 Heroic Quest???
Minor rant: A little pet that doesn't do anything that would be a "buff" in the game (like helping fight mobs, be a flying mount, etc.) has to wait for one to reach approximately level 85, then join a massive raid??? I've always been a casual player and never raided in EQ in 7 years!!! IMO, doing just the Be Raptor part of the quest should end with the hatchling as a pet!!!!
I did read a similar hatchling is a rare drop from various mobs in the area, but apparently that could take a huge amount of time as well. Ah well.
Otherwise, having a great time in game. lol
