I started a Priest so I could find groups.

That's an understatement if ever one existed. Apparently level 27 is the magic number as last night whilst I was soloing I got about 20 invites for groups in two hours. I wasn’t using the LFG tool, these were random "ZOMG there's a Priest, invite her!111!111one!!1eleven!" invites from all across the realms!

I never thought I'd have to put up DND because of group invites but last night I did.

Didn't help, still got the invites.

No wonder people don't play the class, what a pain in the ***.

Was it a surprise that a healer in WoW is different from a healer in FFXI? Nope.

It'll be the same for all MMOs until the end of time.

What I want to know is why the hell are you starting alts on a server other than Anetheron?

I played a white mage in FFXI, and my trick to not get bothered with ANY invite while I was busy fishing was to simply... set my LFG flag up. I swear, it works :p

Well, I don't mind being popular. I get invites even when I am in instances already. I am on friend's lists and people look for me when I log on. I can find help doing quests any time. What's not to like? I generally don't even have to quarrel with mages and warlocks over gear because everyone lets you have stuff if it has a healing bonus. I wish I hadn't wasted the effort leveling a hunter to 60 before I became a man of the cloth.

i played my brother's mage from 50.5 up to 51 and was astounded at all the requests for water and ports.

lucky for me i really didn't enjoy the mage playstyle.

Bah...

Until you log in and find a {SoAndSo} has invited you to join a party already on your screen after the sepia-toned loading image disappears, you don't know the simultaneous curse and joy of being a Priest.

It may not be the most fun class to play, but you can pretty much guarantee you'll never spend more than a few minutes trying to find a group that is grateful to have you along. You can also pretty much have your pick of guilds - it seems that most guilds are always in need.

I feel dirty when I play on other servers, that's why.

My mage is named Iala. It looks like Lala, but it's spelled iala. It's unbelievable how effective such a simple thing like an i instead of an L can cause so many beggers to not know how a name is spelled.

You just made me REALLY want to level my priest up.

I made an undead one, but i have decided i just cant function looking at an undead character. So many i should just get it over with and make a troll one.

Thats really mind blowing. Im a 50 resto specced shaman and I never get invites. I still look for groups. And I thought up to this point i did an awesome job healing.

Boo hoo?

LoL i have found it all depends on the server and the time of day plus the day of the week.

my warrior on weekends can get groups rather fast, but during the week forget. there ARE NO groups during the week in the hours i play him.

I think its a bit worse now with the random tells and invites because so many people think the LFG tool doesn't work. They also don't think half the people are on whatever lfg channel they made up for the server (they're probably right). Therefore, if you're logged in, and a priest, you MUST need a group and not know how to get one! Smiley: banghead

Complaining about *getting* group invites is the siliest thought that ever was heard by a paladin who went to MC with his guild and 13 paladins were there.

My roommate's Everquest name was Iumiena. It was a randomly-generated name, and it took a LONG time for us to realize the first letter was an eye and not an ell. We could never figure out why she could send tells to her, but we could never send tells to her.

To the OP, regarding 27 being the magic number, it's basically the minimum level someone will take you to Gnomeregan. So suddenly people have a real dungeon to do and go "crap, we need a *priest* for this...THERE'S ONE!" That doesn't happen for Deadmines or Stockades so much, but afterwards you're going to get SM requests, and then ZF, Maraudon, and finally the endgame instances.

All classes have their annoyances.

As a warrior, mine was that I'm apparantly prime material for running lowbies through instances. I do enjoy it when I'm in the mood but if I'm busy, getting bothered for it isn't fun.

My warlock has only been pestered for a summon once so far though the person paid me 2g so I'm not complaining.

Wait untill you get your priest to 60 :P You get invited to every instance possible. I get asked all the time to run people through Dead Mines and when I say no, they try to verbally abuse you...wtf?!

I loved /anon, except for every now and then when I accidentally forgot to take it off while looking for a group.
Also, in case anybody is having the opposite problem, in not being able to get a group when you want one, in FFXI I found that the best way to get one was to have a search comment that has nothing to do with your intentions. I once filled that field with "Meowmeowmeowmeow......" and so on, (my character was a mithra black mage), and I got myself a manaburn party in no time flat.

Of course, the 'additional comment' field in the WoW interface does not seem to have a lot of room in it for any useful comments either.

Must be the magic lvl because a lvl 22 holy specced priest gets no love and no invites....so much so that I've shelved him and started a ubiquitous rogue for WSG

I'm a mage and I get random invites for portals, food, and 5-man groups. Usually I get ST invites cuz I'm lvl 54 so it's not bad because I like to go ST for the exp.

Same here and I don't get it. Why ask a healer? Better ask a DPSer, since he can just steamroll through. What do you want me to do? Heal them to death? A 5 man party of lvl 18's does the job a lot faster.

Ditto. I get it far more often when I'm on my druid than when I'm on my mage. All these people need to do is inspect me and see I'm wearing healing gear. Bizarre.

Well when I was in the high 50s on my then shadow priest I was able to run through DMs only stopping for mana. I would just cast Shield, then SW:P until OOM. One Pain would kill each of the trash. A couple of casts to kill any elites boom 30 seconds to clear each section up to the bosses.
