WowReader Issues and HelpFollow

#202 Sep 05 2005 at 12:25 AM Rating: Decent
Could you tell me what ports does this program use? My Firewall is very strict, because this computer is server for the jobplace of my dad, and they dont want to "mess up with hackers."

(TCP / UDP portnumber(s)?)

ps. Reply here, or I would approve, if you could send me the message as well as email, kthxbai.

I know that inventory is loaded at login for a character. Is there another event that will load inventory into profiles other than intial login??? I know bank, auctions house, vendor, & mailbox do not update these.

Have been uploading my profiles successfully until two weeks ago.

Been getting messages like this:
1. Launch WoWreader:
Downloading patch.xml...

2. Then a window appears:
Error downloading update: The underlying connection was closed: Unable to connect to the remote server.

3. Click OK and the profile list comes out. Click on "Upload" and error appears:
Connection error: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

Haven't changed anything to my computer setup. Any ideas? I have so much backdated info to upload. =/

Any insight appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I have 6 WoW characters registered and they show on my "Your Characters" page, but when I pull up my "details" page, they aren't there. This started around the time I got premium. I also can't see many other people's WoW characters on their "details" page. Some I can, but most i can't.

Hello,

Is there any update on a native Mac version of WowReader? If development on it has stalled, are you accepting volunteers to help complete it?
#207 Sep 10 2005 at 3:05 AM Rating: Decent
I'm having the exact problem. Keeps saying Error downloading update. I've uninstalled and reinstalled WoWreader but that hasn't helped. Any idea what's wrong?

Tx!

Are there any /commands besides /wver? Thing is that it seems to very rarely update anything besides my profile. Isn't it supposed to gather info about where mobs are, about drops etc? It doesn't affect me personally, but I'd like to contribute since I lika allakhazam so much! ;-)

Updates are downloaded from lucy.allakhazam.com on port 80/http. If you can open http://lucy.allakhazam.com/wr/patch.xml in a browser, then there should be no reason for it to fail to download it. You can find more information in the file 'patch.log' in the place you installed wowreader. You can either post the contents here as indicated in the first post of this thread, or email them to me at rale@allakhazam.com.

This is the error msg in the patch log (even though I can access the site listed manually on a browser):

I go to 'Options -> Login' and enter my Username and password for Allakhazam. I click save and the box closes as it should. If I then go to 'Options -> Login' again, in the password box, instead of the 7 or so stars there should be for my password, I get 22 stars. Even If I then del;ete these 22 stars and re-enter my password, if I click on save and re-open the box, the 22 stars are back again. Because of this, when I click upload i get the 'Login Failed' error message.

Any idea why this might be happening?

The number of stars shown when you go back to the login window is not related to your actual password. If you're still having trouble, try changing your password here on the website and re-entering the new one. Also, many times people have reported 'login failed' problems, and they turned out to be due to typos in their username. Remember, both the login and password are case sensitive.

Do you have a software firewall like zonealarm or something running that might be blocking it?
#215 Sep 11 2005 at 10:31 PM Rating: Decent
I'm using Zone Alarm but have enabled access for it. Still, the msg pops up.

In any event, I've discovered that if I keep pressing [Okay], when it gives me the error, after a few tries, it actually works. The number of tries varies from 3-10. Whichever the case, I'm able to load my char's details (albeit eventually).

While this is a "potential workaround", I'm wondering if anyone else has a more workable remedy.

Tx :)

Do I have to use WOWreader? or can i manually create a character profile and select the gear im wearing. Im logged into allakhazam on a separate comp then WOW.
#217 Sep 12 2005 at 1:39 AM Rating: Decent
You just need to install WoWReader on the computer where you've installed/played WoW. Once you've installed WoWReader, you can then transfer information from WoW to Allakhazam by entering your Allakhazam login information (username/password) in WoWReader.

Simply, WoWReader is an add-on for WoW so it'll have to be installed in the computer where you've got WoW.

Ok, WoWReader installed fine and appears to uploaded when i click on the button, but when I log in here I have no Character profiles. I do remember that when I first installed Reader, I clicked the Upload button before I set my Login info, and it appeared to upload as Anonymous. I have since gone in and put in the correct login and password and it indicates this at the bottom of the Reader window, updated several times with new info but still no Profiles to see here. :-(

btw, I have loaded the latest version since the 1.7 WoW update.

Thanks for any help!

appren: We're still updating the talent data, but it should be fixed soon.

vttechguy: Check the troubleshooting instructions in the first post of this thread under "Profile not updating".

Hey guys,

I installed Wow reader and i can not see my profile on the site. I dont get any errors or anything when it uploads. I am a registered user and I have entered my info into the wowreader program. I also do have the WR add on in my WoW folder and it is enabled. Through alll that I still cant see myself under the your characters screen. Any help?

Hi! Love the program, but for some reason it doesn't upload MY profiles. What I mean is, my sister and boyfriend's characters are loaded, they each logged on my computer once or twice, but none of the characters from my account are on the site. I upload pretty often, and play my account every day... :( any ideas?

--also, it says i've uploaded 400+ quests, so it must be recieving information from my account, but my characters aren't. hope that helps :/
