Good Morning ZAM! - 7/26/09 Follow

Well.. its not really morning. But, meh. Not going to ruin Stug's or Tamat's tradition. ;)

Spent the weekend doing more research than anything else. Checking out claims of new locations in game. New harvesting paths. And, starting a guild from scratch to document perhaps a more intuitive step by step process for guilds from beginning to grinding levels to guild halls. Like I said.. mostly just research and boring stuff like that. :)

I'm keeping an eye on the comments as well. Remember, if you have information or a correction about a quest or mob, please hit the comment tab and leave a note. I always verify it in game and update the wiki accordingly. Of course you're more than welcome and even encouraged to contribute to the wiki yourselves!

Yesterday I built a TV out of a spare computer cause our LCD 26" downstairs died so now we're watching television in the office here at home. Which is convenient. I was sick all day on McDonalds yesterday. Seems I'm allergic to eggs but can't resist eating them when offered. ugggh.

So how was everyone else's weekend? What'd you do in EQ2 or your game of choice including that very challenging MMO called REAL LIFE?!

Tinkerfest! Which took me about 20 minutes (mostly because I decided to keep picking up sprockets instead of doing the quests). It's good to have a stockpile though, because maybe someday I will work on my tinkering. It's only been a few years and I'm at 9/400...thats pretty good right?

Friday night went out to the lake with friends, grilled, played Norwegian Golf, and some Bee Rummy game, while our dogs ran around like they were on crack. Threw my own dog in the lake a few times...he didnt really seem to care about it one way or the other. Spent all day Saturday looking him over for tics.

Today, I logged in EQ and then sat on the couch all day with the dog watching SyFy channel (formerly known as Sci-Fi...when it was cool. Not sure wth it is now), and the L&O:SVU marathon on USA.

Intermittently switching from forum =28 and Facebook to see who is posting, and now I'm thinking about making chicken for supper.

Heh.. I'm at 6/400 going on 4 years. XD

We watched the Torchwood season finale Friday night. And, started watching Dexter starting with season 1. 20 more mins and Being Human starts. I'm really enjoying BBC America more than SyFy myself. SyFy died a horrible death with Warehouse 13 or whatever its called. :P

I got a bunch of house stuff from Tinkerfest for a few of my characters today, then worked on Lavastorm quests so my warden can get her fiery rhino.

But wait - there are quests for Tinkerfest? I've got a character that tinkers, but I didn't see no stinkin' quests!

I had little time to play, it won't change this week unfortunately. I have done the two tinkerfest quests, added another aa to my monk!

I finally broke down and started mucking out my main's house. Step one involved going through all my books and replacing what I could with the no-count ones from Sage Indis (remember that?). And getting them up on shelves. I put almost all the book stacks and shoved them in the secret room, lol.

I put all the plushies up for display with the books, but I'm not liking that.

Now to start placing furniture. I'm no decorator, but I have seen a couple of things I want to try.

Hi,
I spent my weekend leveling while watching "Lost" season 4. Our guild dinged 30 on Saturday so an hour was also spent Purchasing a hall, running alts to said hall to deposit plat and status. We purchased our first 2 amenities: a beacon and miner.

I'll be interested in seeing what your research turns up. Our guild has only 8 unique members. (All of us know each other from WoW and changed games) Level 1-10 was done in a day using status items. From 10 - 20 went a bit slower, and from 20 - 30 it was grueling. Right now we earn .6% for each writ (tier 8) and that includes the 1% bonus from a LON token. I have read somewhere that the way the leveling structure is, smaller guilds should level at about the same rate that larger guilds do. However, after comparing status points and guild levels listed on EQ2 players I noticed there are a lot of guilds out there that have less status points than we do, but are at a higher level. There doesn't seem to be any formula regarding guild size/progression.

I'll be watching this thread to see what you discover.

Running around and picking up all the language books is still one of the first things I do with a new alt after leaving the island. It's become a tradition except lately I stall till just after I hit lvl ten so I can also grab all the disco while I'm getting the books.

Oh, yeah... this weekend I did manage to log in for long enough to grab a full set of purple shinies and a ton of the gear shinies on one of my alts. I also did the collection turn in for him and started to work on one of the tinkerfest quests. I should be able to finish before the fest is over...

Feel free to email any observations you had during the leveling process in addition to any tips you might have to first time guild leaders. I don't have a whole lot of time to spend in game myself, but my girlfriend has been grinding city and tradeskill writs on 3 different alts.

We're starting out on alts that have no money and are not subsidized by our mains in order to replicate as much as possible the new player experience as guild leaders. It would probably go a lot faster if I actually played as much as she does since I typically just log in to make cash on my provie and deposit in the guild bank. She on the other hand is writ grinding and harvesting while leveling 3 baby toons.

I'm documenting the experience on our end, but welcome any feedback from you!

Here is your guild leveling info..

Level 51 is a brick wall. The amount of SP needed to level past that is a HUGE amount greater than the levels before it. Some earlier levels are hell levels and require more XP than those before it and after it.

It takes over 25,000,000 Guild SP to level a guild to 80 (250mil personal) which would be something like 55 days of non-stop lvl 80 tradeskill rush orders by a single person

That's good info and definitely good numbers to mention. But, in a guide aimed at brand new players, that would be assuming that they're in a rush to get their guild to 80 as fast as possible. While, I believe that many new players are simply confused by basics to start out and what they actually need to do right from the moment they create the guild. I've been jotting down tons of observations and your numbers are definitely helpful, Jes! Thank you!

Guild level 30 seems to be biggest block for some new players to the game. I watched somebody in 1-9 chat offer 50 gold to somebody willing to give them their guild that is level 30 or higher. Of course people pounced on him in level 1-9 chat immediately informing him that it takes about 16,500,000 gsp to get to level 30 and hundreds of plat and many hours of hard work. The player, obviously new, had no idea what tradeskill/city writs were or even what a status point was. So, naturally he upped his bid to 1 plat. ;)

For some real nice nubmers, the person to talk to (if you can get a hold of her) is Selura of Unrest. I haven't seen her play in over a month so I dont know if she is still playing. She is the 2nd highest person on the WW SP leaderboard and has almost solo leveled a guild to 80. She had been keeping track of amounts of SP needed between levels.
