where has all the info gone?Follow

I am a returning player to EQ2, I have been away for about 3 years and have come back simply because EQ2 is the best, most entertaining and fully documented and supported MMORPG on the internet.

Or it used to be :(

I know things have to change, I get it, really I do... But I'm now leveling 10 times as fast as i was, tradeskills are so easy i can do it with my eyes shut (really i tried!) and the world just seems deserted of lower level players... Everything is based around end-game...

Ok, enough about that, my post os not about that at all, maybe a different post is required for that particular rant.

This one is simply to ask.. Where can I find decent info on the game thats up to date, and complete... Like i used to be able to find!

I remember a time in eq2 where I could literally type ANY question directly into google and get a relevant EQ2 site with the answer! Not anymore I cant! I cant even rely on my favourite site Allakhazam anymore, because it simply doesn't exist!

This site (maybe I'm just too narky at the moment and need to calm down) although I havn't given it much time is NOT Allakhazam! Its missing 3/4 of the original sites info, everything that is here is out of date, or incomplete... In the zones section, theres not even a section for the 'classic areas!'

Sorry, I'll calm down now and ask politely...

Where have all the decent sites with good info gone?

Kutter

All the info is still there. The new EQ2 ZAM site is http://eq2.zam.com. We get a data feed directly from SOE now so for the most part its accurate with the exception of a few bugs we're working out. The format is definitely different and might be where you're getting confused. Use the menus just below the search bar for browsing the various categories like quests, mobs, recipes, etc. Or if you know exactly or approximately what you are looking for use the Search function. Its very intuitive.

All the old wiki content was carried over and is untouched except for when I and the other CMs update it make it more current. :) For example at the bottom of a page, you'll see various tabs.. one of them is the Wiki.. click on that and Voila.. all the info that was there in the past!

The tabs throw everyone off at first. Wiki, user comments, and other interesting info is all tabbed at the bottom of a database page. ALL the old info is there. The database got redone, but NOTHING was thrown away. (I woulda had a FIT!)

If you search and what you want is not in the database, try the wiki tab, as our data farming is ahead of the db acquisitions atm.

You're right, there's no "Shattered Land" category under zones, I'll put a ticket in on that :)

Maybe it is just me, but I have to disagree. I haven't been able to find any info on Books and Tomes, pages or the books themselves at all since all was transferred to ZAM. The only benefit is they all have pictures now. Now I know what they would look like if I could ever find them:(

Quests might be current and updated, but the rest is unfortunately lacking for me. I don't know why I keep trying to use it.

What might be confusing you is that in SOE's data all the collections are a separate category from quests (which is different that it was in our old db). So searching quests won't do you any good (and that's why there's a Collections category in the Browse menu). http://eq2.zam.com/db/collection.html?1

when in doubt, just look on the item page.

For example: http://eq2.zam.com/db/item.html?eq2item=1C7BE580A00DFF2D80990BCD775830B0#Dropped_by
See all the mobs that drop that?

This tab has all the Collections that use it:
http://eq2.zam.com/db/item.html?eq2item=1C7BE580A00DFF2D80990BCD775830B0#Required_By_Collection

And all the old info we had on the collection is on the wiki tab:
http://eq2.zam.com/db/collection.html?eq2collection=5EDF5079961F8B963FAF4CD99E64433D#Wiki

The simple answer is: http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/EverQuest_2_Wiki:Main_Page

99% of everything I have looked for is there, complete, and very reliable.

Just type whatever it is you are looking for into the search bar on the left, and it usually pops up. It may take a bit of digging if you don't type in the right phrase, but you can usually find whatever you are looking for if you are a bit patient.

Disclaimer: Nothing against this site, but I'm used to eq2i for looking up quests!

I love it when someone posts something fairly negative, then never comes back.

Thanks for all the hard work you have put into this web site! I am very thankful you are willing to do what you are doing.

Having said that there are a couple things I wouldn't mind seeing changed/added to the database search features:

1. Add in a Sub-type for the type field. Say I pick weapon, add a new sub type field where I can pick the type of weapon; crushing, 2 handed, ranged or whatever. Same for Armor, or shield, etc.

2. If I do a search that includes specific stats include those stats of the item in the results. That way I can sort by those stats.

3. When I do a sort, sort all the pages not just the page I'm on.

4. You are missing the flag Heirloom.

I've just recently returned and thats all that has jumped out at me. As I see, think up new things I'll be sure to add a reply. =)

You're welcome!

We noticed that too, and I do believe we will have more flexibility with the next iteration of data.

I'll suggest that to our devs. I've no idea if it's feasible or not.

Kelemdor wrote:

Unfortunately, because we're tabbing the lists instead of making one very long single page list, column sorts will only sort the displayed tab. My best suggestion is to use the filters to try and narrow the search down. We have a couple of suggestions in to alleviate that, like being able to choose your display order.

Known issue! That should be cleared up with the next data iteration.

To try and predict your next question: No, I don't have an eta. Our devs are working on it, and talking to them I'm feeling very positive about things. I just don't know when.
