I'm a conjuror and i'm trying to figure out what profession i would like to be. its between an outfitter to make my own clothes or a scholar but i'm not sure what a scholar is. can you make stuff to upgrade your own spells like the books i find off of monsters? if so, i'll go that route.

Scholar encompasses all the spell making classes. At level 20 you'd have to choose between Jeweler, Alchemist, and Sage. You'd want to pick the right one for your adventure class:

- Alchemists make fighter combat arts (spells) and potions and poisons
- Jewelers make scout spells and jewelery
- Sages make caster spells

All crafting uses harvested resources, although I think some of the rares still drop.

I would recommend going Sage (subclass of Scholar). the reason is that you will be able to make your own adept IIIs (soon to be called Experts). For your spells this is important, but as a conjuror, it is especially important to have your pet at that level (Master I, soon to be called just Master, is the best, but adept III minimum).

well, there's my two copper. hope that helps.

oh, one final note, level 50+ sages are the ones that will be able to make the blank books for people to write in when that finally goes live(currently on test), so there's another added bonus for sages. Anyway, have fun, and remember, whatever you choose, have fun with it.

It comes down to simple economics... You'll need seven new armor pieces every ten levels, but in the same ten levels, you'll need in the neighborhood of a dozen new spells. So the question comes down to whether you want to pay someone to make you 7 pieces of armor or 12+ spells...

Also remember that in order to craft for yourself you'll always need to keep your crafting level ahead of your adventure level. If you choose to make your own armor, you'll need to be about 9 levels ahead (because the different armor pieces are spread out across the tier) but if you choose to make your own spells you only need to stay a level or two ahead of yourself.
