Whats the best class most teams need and can solo easy? i play melee classes mostly but will give anything a try at least once.
I've read that race stats don't matter, if thats so then the erudite ( i like them they are cool )can be as good a bruiser as a barbarian

The same goes for classes. If you enjoy a melee class, then choose a few of them and try them out. There is no "best" class, because if there were, then everybody would be playing it and then you're going to have an issue getting groups. In fact, if there was a "best class" scenario, then you'd be much better off picking anything but that class cause you'd always be in demand.

To an extent the same can be said about end game raiding if that was where you were going with this. But, with a kicker. If there is a certain class that has an advantage; there's no guarantee that the developers don't implement some sort of balancing by the time you reach end game.

Play the class that is most appealing and most fun for you. You have 7 character slots so roll 7 different classes and try them all out up to level 20 or 30. By then you'll have a good feel for which you enjoy the most. Don't be so quick to delete those other toons though as it might be worth your while to level them all up eventually. Then you're guaranteed a slot in a group/raid because filling that vacant slot no matter which class they need is just a /camp <character name> away. :)

I realize its human nature to go to forums and ask for advice. That's what we're here for after all. But asking which class you should play is like asking your high school counselor what you should do when you grow up and you might wind up a pig farmer or sanitary engineer. ;)

Plus.. with 24 different classes.. you're only going to get 24 different opinions about which class is the "best". Cause each player has their own ideas about what makes their class the "best". :)

Actually, 23 opinions and one certainty: Monks are the best!

Spyderbite is correct though, you have to try out the different classes yourself, there's no way we'll be able to say which you will enjoy.

Perhaps i should word it a bit differently, i want to be able to solo but group up too, so what class is in more demand than others.
I like most classes but because i can't decide what one to lvl i don't lvl any, silly i know but thats how my mind works.
With WOW it was easy i played a rogue and death night, and warhammer a DOK.

You can word this question as many different ways as you like but the answer is always going to come back the same...

This ain't WoW and it ain't FFXI. The classes in EQ2 are very well balanced so that all can solo and all are needed/welcome in any group situation. So don't spend your time playing what someone else tells you is the right class, play the class you WANT to play and if you play it well you'll always be able to solo and you'll always be welcome in groups. Play the class poorly and it won't matter which class you picked, no one wants to play with bad players regardless of the class. It really is that simple...

as mentioned you would have to try out a few classes foryourself before you can really know..

but if you are looking for a class that are highly welcome in groups and can solo well, I would chose Either a Coercer, Illusionist, Dirge or Troubador (In that order)

Those are al much welcome in groups and raids and though the 2 chanters have an advantage in soloing, it can be done with Dirge/Troub also.

If it's your first character, I'd maybe suggest not the coercer just yet. Try one later when you're a little more used to the game.

To repeat what others have said, all classes are soloable & all are welcome in groups if played well. Pick an archtype & class that suits you. You can have seven characters - make many and see which one 'sticks'. Don't be afraid to delete ones you don't play & try creating others.
