stat increases, and epicFollow

#1 Mar 22 2009 at 3:57 PM Rating: Decent
I have a couple of questions yet unsolved in my months, and years of playing Everquest II. 1) stat increases are affected by level ups, but for some odd reason my stats hardly increase in my levels, all pre-fifties, except for in the early tens and teens. It is a blue day when I get a message that says I gain health or power upon a level increase, so when exactly do stat increases occur, or have my stats improved all along and I've just no kept careful track of my numbers. 2) "Going Epic" I've heard, seen, and observed on enemies, and monsters. How exactly does one go epic, or heroic? There are epic quests, but how many epic quests make an epic character, and what determines when someone can go epic. Does being epic help stats raise higher? Does being heroic for that matter? There are so many epic quests before the upper levels, but is there any chance to be an epic character before the thirties, forties and up? Does one go heroic, and then epic? Or are there problems reoccuring because I use EverQuest II run as an administrator affecting my stat gains, and confusing me to no recourse? For someone who wants to do anything in their power to be epic sooner, rather than later, are there any tips of a series of quests someone can suggest to me, because I'd like to map out my characters' destiny.

Press "P" for your persona window, and to see where your stats are. Your stat caps do increase with level; come to think of it I don't remember seeing a message about it beyond 20 or so. No worries, they do increase.

"Going Epic" I've never heard, but I'd have to assume that means acquiring your class' epic weapon: http://eq2.allakhazam.com/wiki/category%3Aeq2_epic_weapon_quests These are *very* nice weapons, and the Mythical version is very difficult to obtain.

If that's not it, all I can think is someone's using that to measure their uberness factor.

Very generally speaking a character's uberness may be judged by their gear. Soloers like me will probably be wearing Mastercrafted mixed with a little Legendary. Groupers will have nice Legendary. Raiders will have awesome gear only obtainable my raiding.

I'm really generalizing here. EQII supports all playstyles, and you can't really measure one playstyle against another.

Um, no, it's impossible for anything on your computer to affect the game, unless you count processing and download/upload speed or using EQ2 maps, which are really just cosmetic.

Just a follow up, I dinged 78 tonight and the + Health + Power messages showed. Perhaps you have them filtered out?

He might be talking about PVP. I believe characters can, depending on certain qualifications, con as epics to enemy players. Or I might be remembering something from a different game..

This sounds like a job for Spyderbite.

Its a combination of the two on a PvP server. People of the opposite alignment names appear much like a mobs in the respect that it will show your difficulty against them. Somebody who is "Epic" does not show up like an Epic mob, but is referred to as that because of the difficulty due to their gear, maxed AA, etc. In general though, going "Epic" mainly means that one fights in PvP with an Epic (Mythical) weapon.
