Hi all,

Just starting the game now, so I would need a few pointers. I couldn't find any sticky, but my apologies if I missed it.

I know I would like to play a stealther but I am hesitating between:
- assassin
- brigand
- swashbuckler

I am not going to raid so my focus would be pvp. Which of the three would be best suited for some solo leveling and solid pvp? I know none of them will own the world and its mother, but any info on which one would do what and which would be the preferred choice would be helpful.

Also, what about the races? Coming from WoW, I know that in this game there is one race that is clearly better than others for pvp (undead). Is there also such a preferred class? how important are the racials?

If there is anything else I should know to start a decent scout, I'd be most grateful.

Many thanks in advance,

nostra

Waou, apparently nobody's playing this game anymore, which explains why I saw so few peoples online. Pitty, it looks quite fun.

Anyway, went for an assassin, which started to really shine around lvl 11. I guess I'm going to have some fun. Now I just need info on some good templates, if anybody reads this, because the development points are still like chinese to me.

Thanks,

Actually a lot of people still play the game but most atm are doing the new quests with the last update:-) i have a mage and templar so im not sure on your guy but i would concetrate on what you wish to do . Remember you get 1 free respec at any time. go for survivability until later on then you can respec if needed . Remember good armor and upgrading the abilities you use the most helps a lot also. Anywayt welcome to EQ2 ...its a fun game and nowhere near the bad time sink EQ1 was.

Thanks for the reply.

At lvl 16, some of my gear starts to be outdated indeed, but it's hard to replace it through quests and I see so few people in my starting town (Neriak or sth like that) that I don't even count on having stuff crafted by others. Should I purchase better armor from some merchants?

Since I'm a scholar, I can at least easily gather raw materials and upgrade all my abilities.

the best way to get your gear is to find a decent guild.
You find a good guild will make your gear for no charge and may even have the rare. Or they might need you to supply the rare.
I am in a guild and I make crafted items for my guildies and they make armour for me no charge. Since I dont have a Armourer.
Some guilds keep the rares in the guild bank, depending on your rank and the guild you can use the rares in the guild bank.
Good Luck to you.

Thanks for your reply, Dagail.

Makes sense. I've chosen the scholar path, so I can easily craft for myself all upgardes for my Combat Abilities. That helps quite a bit. And I have crafting materials left overs, so I could easily craft some more for guildies. So it makes sense that they could return the favor in their own art.

My only worry is that my server seems desperatly empty, so it'd be hard to find a guild to join I guess. When I created my account (free trial offer), I could only choose between two servers, both of which had "low" population. Is that normal, or just because I'm on free trial? Are there only two servers remaining nowadays?

Anyway, even without a guild the game is proving fun and the leveling up is fast and enjoyable. Being an assassin rocks, mobs can be taken down so swiftly. And I find the game nicely finished and polished, I'm surprised not to see more players online.

Best,

Ive got an assassin to lvl 70...its been a bumpy road. Truth is right now i do very well at pvp...but its cause of play time fighting different classes...you have to mold your fights around who your fighting...same is true with all classes. Inquisitor/Templar impossible to beat 1v1 or at least i havent been able to with my assassin evryone else = dead (xcept rangers 50% win/loss ratio with them...if yer not perfect and a few of yer attacks get blocked/parried your dead)
