EQ2 on a new computerFollow

#1 Oct 07 2008 at 9:51 PM Rating: Decent
Probably some really simple explanation for this but I sure can't figure it out. I just got a new PC and installed EQ2 on it. Now how do I play my characters? The launchpad did like 95% of the download and then next time I looked at it said 'download cancelled'. And there are no characters to select. I guess I just figured that the game server would match my characters with my station account and it would all be good. Can someone please help me? Thank you in advance.

Are you running Xp or Vista? I recall there was a Vista issue with this, but I cant remember what I did to fix it at this late hour. I'll get back to you.

I am running Vista and after hours of messing around with stuff I discovered that I actually have to disable the access controls. Seems retarded since I am logged in as administrator but whatever. Anyway it's been patching all night and still not done so I'm not 100% sure it works but I can see my toons on the launchpad now which gives me a warm tingly feeling inside. :]

That is right. Since you now see your toons on the launch pad you are good to go, after the patching of course. Happy Travels.

You don't have to completely disable the UAC (user access controls) in Vista, you just have to right click the EQ2 icon and tell it RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR, or you can view the properties of the icon and goto COMPATIBILITY tab and set it to always run as admin, so all you have to do is just click OK when its time to authorize its launch and then VIOLA, it works!
