It can be handy :) But if you need to dump it, there's tons of NPC vendors who sell them, and they're cheap.

Thanks thats what I figured. I had better stuff to be lugging around

You made a rat, right? You should have some kind of infra-vision making the torch superfluous! And even if you can't see in the dark you can live without it... for now anyway...

In any case, if you haven't found the bank yet (to drop off some of the garbage you're still lugging around)... WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR??? :)

I found the bank and chucked all my logs and crafting junk it in. It appears theres no one to actually buy all the random ingredients off me. Where can I go in Freeport where a guy will actually buy my coffee beans, and lettuce, deer meat etc?

The harvested stuff you can sell on the broker. Some of it wont net much, but some might get in a couple silver per piece.

I'm not sure about how to use the broker but I will try and figure it out. This little crap I've been mining and gathering and chopping is getting out of control due to space limitations

For each tier (you're currently in T1) you should find the following harvestables:

'hard' ore node - 4 items (2 common, 2 rare)
'soft' ore node - 4 items (2 common, 2 rare)
root node - 2 items (1 common, 1 rare)
wood node - 2 items (1 common, 1 rare)
shrub node - 5 items (4 food, 1 rare root)
fishing node - 2 or 3 items (different named fish - all common)
in addition, any node can also supply an item described as 'glowing' or sparkling' etc. - these items count as rares (or uncommons) and carry a single different adjective for each tier.

This should give you a total of 20 or 21 possible unique items. The common ones have a average broker value of about 1CP, so a full stack of 200 will only net you a couple silver. IMHO, the commons are really not worth storing unless you plan to craft with them yourself.

The rares on the other hand, even the T1 rares, should earn you a tidy profit if you sell them on the broker. I would say dump any commons you don't plan to craft with and only store the rares.

How will you know if you pull a rare harvest out of a node? The game dialog will tell you and you'll get an audio signal. (how convenient!)

Happy harvesting!

Additionally, a rare harvested item in your inventory will be "sparkly" which is helpful if you weren't really paying attention when you harvested it.

I have harvested all they way through t4, 37 Fury being my main money is tight. Check out the broker you can find a rich player who will pay silver per piece of the common harvest items, probably tougher in t1 but by t3 I have had some luck on selling stacks of commons. Really all comes down to following the brokers prices and meeting demand I sell everything I can usually with some time I find a buyer, fyi each sever is different in prices, and for some items it could be tough sometimes to sell. From a new player to new player you need that money for spell and gear upgrades its worth the effort, hope that helps.

Actually, the point about needing money dove tails nicely with part two of this topic...

and that is that early on, you don't have to pick a specific crafting class... up until crafting level 10, anyone can craft anything at all. Since you have already accumulated piles of harvested materials, this comes in very handy!

This means that a new player can craft his own bags and bank boxes, his own armor and weapons, his own jewelry and even his own spells. And as a bonus, by doing the early crafting quests you'll also earn some really nice quest rewards for making all the stuff you would be making while you learn to craft anyway!

Now don't misunderstand, you'll be crafting at a T1 level so you won't be making 24 slot bags or 48 slot boxes but everything you make will be level appropriate for your toon so in almost every instance, it's a win/win situation.

As our resident crafting Goddess, Calthine can give you further details regarding where to go and who to talk to but the gist of it is that crafting is fun... and will help you a lot early on!

I appreciate all the advice! I really love the community here for helping hopeless people like myself. I have three demo days left before I buy the full game!

Hehe!

Here's the official SOE digital download link. You'll have to log into your Station Account. https://account.station.sony.com/authenticated/commerce/buyNowFlow.action?gameCode=EQ2

Honestly I'd feel safer going to the mall and having one in hand with an instruction book maybe and something real rather then a download. Looked locally no luck. I'm 33 so I guess I am old fashioned that way. Just feels more secure then whatever I do next.

Level 20 a second ago btw woohoo

Gratz!

Is there even a book in the hardcopy? Be aware that even if you buy a disk you're still going to have a big download. And the neat thing about SOE is that the info is in your Station Account - if you lose everything you just hit up a link to the installer and off you go.

I wasn't aware of any more downloading so thanks for the heads up on that, I figured it already had just about everything

Is there anything that I must do now that I am level 20?

I figured it would steer me somewhere if I needed to pick a crafting thing or whatever. Still not all that crafting knowledgable but I'll figure it out!

I'd really love a strategy thing to pour over. This site is a pretty damn good resource however.

Thanks Calth

Oh, crafting you can pick up any time. Are you still in Gorowyn or have you made it to Freeport?

PS: This guide isn't up to date any more, but the basics are there: http://eq2.allakhazam.com/db/guides.html?guide=907

I hate freeport :) But they're all pretty big.

You want West Freeport, ask for the The Coalition Crafter's Association. There are crafting trainers in the buildings above it and one with a crafting newb quest inside.
