Played at launch but see there have been alot of changes...Follow

Played EQ2 at launch and didn't care for it much, but I hear that there has been alot of changes. So I am putting down WoW for awhile and giving EQ2 another chance. So I was going to ask a few questions about some classes that I played b4 and some of the new/updated features that the game offers.

1. I loved playing the stealth characters b4 and was interested in which class would fit me best. It must be soloable and sought after for raiding/grouping. I was a predator b4 but don't really remember much about it. I have been reading alot and am interested in Assasin. Is this charactor only available as evil facton?

2. I am reading alot about the AA's and remember them a little bit from EQ1, but am not really familiar with when I should start to grind for them alone and not level to fast as to gimp my toon.

3. I was reading about heroic opportunites, but don't remember how that whole system works. A quick explanation of how the system works would be very helpful.

4. Gearing up while you level seems to be the way to go from what I am reading. I have not been able to find too many gearing guides for the early levels, is there any around that someone could point me to?

5. I have no idea how the crafting system works and would like to know what would be good for an Assasin to pick up. I also read somewhere that collecting "rare items" and having gear crafted at early levels helps alot with making your toon more powerful. Is there any truth to this?

6. Is it better to grind xp or do quests? I know that WoW focuses on xp boosts from questing and was wondering if it was the same for EQ2.

I appreciate your time and hope I don't get flamed for asking all these noob questions. I just want to go into the game the right way this time and enjoy the full experience of what it has to offer. Thanks in advance.

On the PvE servers, yes. You can only play an Evil Assassin. On the PvP servers, you can Exile and then return to your home city by grinding faction and choose either Assassin or Ranger from the trainer.

AA's will come naturally as you progress. Some people lock their level around 20 and grind AA so that they'll be "fully loaded" as soon as they reach 70 or 80. However, by just doing quests, adventuring in new areas and keeping up with your collection quests, you should have no problem keeping on top of your AA without the need to lock your level.

In a nutshell.. you initiate the Heroic Opportunities during a fight and then hit each CA/Spell as prompted in order. Sort of like playing "Simon". When the right combination is completed it will cause a spell to go off which could do one of many things depending on which class initiated it. These get more powerful as more people participate.

There's no point to have a gearing guide for the low levels as those levels are going to blow by far too quickly to matter. And, investing in Master Crafted gear pre-T4 is sort of a waste of coin. Once you hit level 32.. you'll want to start gearing up in MC equipment at the least.

Of course wearing better stuff is going to make your character more effective. ;) Don't forget to upgrade your CA/Spells as well. But, again, to do this before you reach T4 where the content becomes noticably more difficult is really just a waste of coin on a PvE server. On PvP servers, its mandatory as you'll be fighting other players dressed in a paper bag and weilding a couple of plastic straws.

Never grinded myself. But, it seems to me that both would be best so that you are also getting AA exp. By following all the quest lines, you are pretty much guaranteed to experience all the content that EQ2 has to offer. By grinding, you'll pretty much blow past it and miss out on a lot.
