Good Morning, AllaK's - 9/8/08Follow

Good morning, happy campers.

Had an out-of-town guest this weekend so not a ton of play time. I did manage to finish off all of the solo Jarsath Wastes quests on my coercer with the exception of the ultra tedious "hunter" quests. Pinged AA #112.

Did guild hall construction harvesting quests on my main. Got the certificate. I'm going to force myself to keep going until I get the title.

Watched every team in the NFC East except my Redskins win this weekend. *grumble*

How was your weekend?

That's as far as I got. I'm trying to harvest in my tier so I get more status. Unfortunately, everyone on my server is also at the same tier as me. I was having too much trouble finding resources. I'll work on it some more tonight. But I might break down and do the last few in Commonlands, just to get it done, haha.

/hint hint. Do the tiers right by you for speed, unless you are looking for status points. Goes by much faster. The rewards for doing 20 of those are great. Knight statue thing if youre good, beautiful dragon statue if you're evil. This is one time I highly suggest having an evil toon do 20 quests to get that reward.

I worked on getting all my new plushies for my aquarium this weekend, and then decided to reorganize my house, create a much bigger aquarium, and make downstairs more cozy. I'll edit and add some pics later. I also completed the quest that is not a quest after cursing a guildmate who got the coords backwards and I spent about an hour in the down below looking for the damn chest.

VP is all borked with the patch. One of the easier (but still a long fight) named is now avatar esque, which was unintentional to eh devs but they havent fixed it yet. Even so we got it down to 30 and then died a painful death.
Decided to try Maestro over in Hate (sorry Calthine I just can not get a good SS of him, but he looks like a vamp) took him down twice this week and I got a new BP and the hand of maestro

Couldn't manage a whole lot of game time this weekend but I did manage to get on for long enough to run the guild hall repeatable 20 times and score the statue. I plan to run the last ten times through for the title sometime this week.

Also spent a short time in EF and managed to get my charm and complete the first plushie quest. (only 4 more to go!)

I'll pop in there tonight.

Question - which board do you get your decorating ideas from? I know you told me, but I'm old and feeble and forgot.

There is a board named "Norrathian Homeshow located here:

It's chock full of creamy decorating goodness...

I get my ideas from the Norrathian Homeshow on the O boards, from the Tradeskill and Home page on eq2flames, and by wandering through other peoples houses once in awhile. Thats a great way to find an item you like, and be able to examine it to see what it is, then further research later to find out how to get it (carpenter, quest item, etc)

Lets see...I left my friends place at 4:30 on saturday, which I thought would give me enough time to find the wedding. I got there at 6 just as everyone was eating. Stayed for the reception, then went back to my friends.

I looked good enough that I almost thought about going to a bar or club, but then I'd be in a bar with drunk people and not able to drink myself since I needed to drive. If someone would have answered his phone I would have gone to just hang out with him though.

Came home Sunday afternoon and logged in to see my broker, ended up running a few instances, then switched to the Templar to run them again (and hitting 28 in the process).

Noob Question: What is the aquarium called? I heard someone say in /gu that I should get one too but I forgot to ask them for a link so I knew what it was. Any info would be much appreciated and rewarded.

They're built from other house items. DSD built mine for me. I tried to put my own together again after I moved, but I couldn't get it right, haha. I need practice.

A bit of background for Dya;

The folks who are the most hard core about decorating have always had a favored item to create from scratch in housing. Early on, the more inventive decorators made stair cases out of book shelves and "false floors" out of rugs and carpets.

Back then, bookcases were also commonly used to create walls within large open room spaces.

After a while the cool thing to create became a fireplace (since none existed at the time) and soon they were all the rage. The next year, fireplaces were introduced as Frostfell crafted items and so the decorators started looking for new worlds to conquer.

About a year or so ago, I started seeing Aquariums popping up in some of the more unique homes. The problem until now was what to do for fish. You could find all the pieces to make the tank and even detail items to spread around inside but up until the revamp in EverFrost, there was only one fish reward. Now there are five new ones so I imagine we'll be seeing a whole lot more fish tanks cropping up.

People would also use the Gazer Plushie as a squid or octopus Smiley: grin

the great thing about decorating is that there isnt much limitation in what you can do. The only thing I grumble about is the inability to take furniture and move them upside down. Now if I could do THAT I would have to make a bunch of characters just to play around.

As for the aquarium, you have to use your imagination. Mystic ebon sconces are great for the blue water effect. You just have to figure out a way to cover it so only the light shows. Snow drifts are great for the bubble effect. Blue paintings and mystical mirrors can make even more blue water effects. A couple of shrubs, some alabaster eggs, ship in a bottle, whatever you want to add in and voila, you have an aquarium.

Sizing can be small to huge, up to you. Just use your imagination and play around. My first attempt was in the Mrs house and it wasnt so good. So I kept breaking it down and trying with new stuff. I personally like big aquariums but thats my own style. I like it to be the center of attention when someone walks in my door. But I have seen some beautiful smaller ones too. One I saw lined an entire 3 walls, broken up by adamantine pillars and it just looked so cool. I think I may do something similiar to that in the guild halls.

I believe there is a thread in the Norrathian Homeshow on the Oboards that discusses how to build one. And any questions feel free to ask too Im more than happy to help

Only 5.5 more weeks left till I go back to 8-5:30.. :(
