I would start by looking at all the deity blessings individually and seeing which one you think suits you best.

Just like choosing an adventure or crafting class, and even a character race, no one can choose your God for you. There is no "best" choice for any race/class combo. It really all comes down to your play style and what you want to achieve by the God you choose.

The good news is that the choice doesn't have to be a permanent one. if you follow a God and decide you're uphappy, you can always drop that one and take up with another.

I did this on my main - when I first chose a God, I picked the one that was best for me at the time (Tunare). When Karana became available it looked a lot better to me so I abandoned Tunare and switched! Piece of cake!

What OBD said is true to an extent. Necro's and ShadowKnights for example though, do have a best god choice (IMO, and the opinion of the masses), which is Bertoxxulous. Bert has many blessings that offer buffs to disease based spell damage, a Necro for example has nothing but disease based buffs, an SK only has half so he/she can benefit from another god if they choose that.

Some Necro players like to choose Soulesek Ro as their deity because of the pet they get at 55, which I believe is a bonus of 22 INT. The Bert pet is only 19.2...but as I already mentioned the disease buffs are more important in my opinion.

Look around, and you will be sure to find something that appeals to you and your class.

My main is an iksar assassin and I went with Cazic-Thule just for the RP. The bonus from the pet is a boost to my Int and Wis (which is not really needed), but the blessings and miracles aren't too bad (mostly fear effects, but I have a summoned pet one now).

Add in dirge tot hat as well, as almost all of our spells and CAs are diseased based.
This linkhas all the information on the gods, the blessings and miracles they offer and the quests in order to make them your diety. Peruse through them and figure out which ine best suits your class and playstyle, and go from there

nothing personal Calthine, and I love this site, but I've gotten so used to using Wiki because throughout the years Alla dropped the ball on us. I know you guys have been working your tail off to get it back to shape, but I go with habit. /shrug

ummm, also ETA when I click that link, Calthine, it just says Gods (EQ2 with absolutely nothing else. Smiley: confused

This is all I get even when repeatedly trying again

Aw sh*t. Add a final ) Stupid close-paren never links right.

http://eq2.allakhazam.com/wiki/Gods_(EQ2)

Try that. edit: nope, didn't work. *makes a note to talk to a programmer about that

And no offense taken; we were behind the curve a long time and habits are hard to break :) I'll just keep linking stuff and poking ya.

Raven and Kain have been busting their buns getting all our gods data in order, 'cause frankly it sucked. They're not *quite* done, but it's in progress! (I think Kain is doing Brell right now; Raven's working on Test for GU48.)

I'm happy to hear that. As I said, Alla really dropped the ball on this game and the consequence was that everyone, even us die hard fans, go elsewhere for our info now. I know you guys have got a huge deal with SOE and the next expansion, but as you saw on EQ2flames, it's going to take a lot of work on both sides, plus a lot of advertising and people on the ball over here to get people here for the info Smiley: frown

If there is anything I can do to help I'm more than willing, I just need to be directed and prodded. I tend to forget in the moment while in the game itself. Smiley: lol

Just remember to use the site (lol) and fer goodness sakes, POKE US when something is screwed up. We're getting there, and the zam.com thing will be awesome :)

Me personally, when I can say, in game "eq2.zam.com" instead of "eq2.allakhazam.com, wait, where does the H go again?" it'll help a lot :)

Dearest Calthine,

Tell us what to do. I downloade the lucy2 thing for mob drops, but I am not experienced with updating wiki's at all. Being a new player to the game I will probably go through most things that are already covered in the game, and I wont be of much help when the new expansion comes out, since I probably wont get it right away.

If only someone would make a page that lists what people could work on for submitting info (hint hint).

Yours truly,
Dyadem.

Hehe. The page would have everything!

Tell ya what, that antiquated sticky up there, "Bodhi's Guide to Submitting Information"? When we get this next GU settled in I'll re-do that.

In the meantime, here's some easy things:

1) Take pictures! A Photographer's Guide to Norrath You can always mail them to me if you don't want to figure out the uploader, but it's really easy.

2) Check old content! You're going through old stuff? Wonderful, there's a lot of dust around here! Set up your in-game browser so you can go to Allakhazam fast. Browser (EQ2) Is the writeup still good or a complete mess? Is the basic data right? You can edit the wiki yourself by clicking "edit" or just leave a comment and I'll fix it.

I'll work on that :)

That's what I did. My in-game browser is pointed to this site. But so far, I haven't come across anything that needed an update. If I do, I'll try to remember to edit the Wiki, or at least send someone an email about the update.

BTW, this is still the place I come to when I want quest info. So far, all the quests I've looked up have been updated with the correct info. The only thing I couldn't find here one day was a guide quest on the Test server, and I think I was just looking it up wrong.

Probably not - we only have about three of those because the version fromm an NPC only exists on the Test server.

Actually, I eventually found it. It was listed under Guide Quests in the Wiki.

It was this quest.

I had to do a search for Guide Quests, then I got the Wiki page with them listed.

Yeah, it's coming up now. But I'm almost positive it didn't come up in that search the first time I tried it (and I can't remember how long ago that was, a few months?). I figured it must have been a fairly new quest is all. No biggie really. Smiley: grin
