Defiler vs MysticFollow

#1 Feb 08 2007 at 3:09 PM Rating: Decent
I have a lvl 18 mystic that i want to betray as soon as there is a place for fae to betray to. I looked through the skill list for each one and they seem to be very similar. I mostly want the defiler because i want the lvl 20 fun spell that makes you a wraith. However i'd like to know how they stack up in the end game. I'm in a raid guild and want which ever one is more useful.

*yes i know every class has it's benefits, but when i look at guild recruitment pages, they mostly want Mystics. Just wondering why that might be.

Thanks in advance.

Im not speaking out of experiance but out of what I've heard but mystics are more popular because they are not needed to sacrifice their own health to use the heals.

I looked thought the skills again and see where the defiler gives up some health to heal group members. So in steady scale of SOE balancing, what does the defiler gain over the mystic to offset the health issue? Does the defiler's heal heal more? anybody with experience know? i'm supprised by the lack of comments on this thread.

Plz help

I play a 34 Defiler. and from my experience the hp you lose isnt enough to notice unless your soloing and running low on mana and health and SOMETIMES you get a "Do not have enough health to cast this spell" msg.

I had a lvl 12 mystic that I ended up rerolling as a Defiler and havent looked back since.

Evil will always triumph over good, because good is dumb.

Np =)

My defiler hit 35 today. and I thought of some new info I could give you.

AAs- Your pet will become like a walking (and sometimes attacking buff) as alot of your AAs are group benefit buffs that you cast on your pet.

I'm looking to build Cossette (my defiler) into a raid toon, so I went with the STR line of AAs under the Shaman Tree for the final ability to exclude your grp from AOEs. the rest of my AAs in that tree will go into the INT line, a 70 Defiler friend INT is nice if you want to raid.

And I'm sure you know this already. but keep your group heal and group ward in master 1 if you can.

I tend to use my group ward more than my single target ward when soloing and grouping because right now my grp ward is for 1114 where my single target ward is in master II but only wards 400, and when your soloing thats not only a bigger ward for mobs to beat through but it wards your pet too.

PS Will post more info as I think of it

I finished my betrayal. I'm now a lvl 25 Fae Defiler and i couldn't be happier. Very cool class. The spirit companion is cooler for the evil side too, just like everything else =)

Thanks for the AA info too, i've been mulling over how i was going to distribute those.

=) Hi everyone, I was wondering if going down the STR and WIS Shaman AA was a good idea for my needs. What I am looking for is a good healer, and good use out of my pet type Mystic (I do not want to play any other job) for groups and Raiding, I hope to be doing a lot of that once I hit 80. I also would like to know what is different about the Defiler companion lol?

defilers heals also increase the max health of the target. dont know if mystics do that, but there ye go :)

Just remember that a Sharman / Mystic has great wards so mainly used for ward protection

I have a 65 Mystic. One thing I love about her is the fact that I can increase my Spirit of Wolf up to 40%. As far as I know, defilers cannot do that. ><
