When I send my retianer out on a little "trip" and that venture takes, lets say 18 hours.... can I still summon them up from the summoning bell during that time to sell and store items? I didnt see that in the patch notes, although I am very curious about the ventures.

I'll definitely be shelling out for a third retainer when the time comes.

- Assigning a Venture
Players can assign a venture to their retainers by selecting Assign Venture from the retainer interface. Assigning a venture requires payment with a unique currency named ventures, which can be acquired through the exchange of company seals, fulfilling leve objectives, or completing beast tribe quests.

* Fees will not be refunded in the event a venture is canceled.
* Players can still summon their retainers and place items for sale on the market while a venture is in progress.
* The status of ventures can be confirmed under Timers in the Duty menu. Selecting Ventures from the Timers interface will display a separate window containing the status of individual retainers.

Yes, you can. Not very realistic but yeah.

This made it feel kind of like a brag post. Not everyone is rich.

Earned it through hard work and intelligence. And even a street peddler can afford $2 a month. Heck the kids in Ethopia get 25 cents a day from the Children's fund.

If someone has to be rich to afford 2 bucks a month, then they have more problems then trying to afford a subscription for a video. Maybe someone needs to get their priorities in check.

Even when I was at my brokest (I consider that the time I was laid off from the supervisory position I'd had for 7 years and went on unemployment insurance for five months trying to find something that paid anywhere close to what I had been making) -- I decided that the money for FFXI was still an expense I wanted to continue to incur. I cut my food budget to the bare bones and went on deferment for student loans and had no other fun money at all. I even cancelled half of my mules, so that it was $14.95 a month and I could keep my unemployed "entertainment" expenses at under $15 for guilt-prevention purposes.

FFXI was by far the best entertainment value I could get during my broke period. I would send out a few resumes or do an interview, do some chores to justify my mooching off my then-fiance, and then play the game for 6-8 hours straight because I had nothing else to do.

Even if you do pay $4/month more for extra retainers on top of a fully paid account, I'm willing to bet the hourly expense the average person pays for XIV will still be measured in pennies, nickels, and dimes. If someone with a full account and two retainers is playing for 20 hours a week, they'll be paying about 23 cents an hour. That price drops down if they have a basic or legacy account, or if they play for more than 80 hours a month.
