QFT.

I have run this dungeon a few times now. Once was in DF roulette on the first day and no one had done it before. We actually had more difficulty with the first boss that spawns all the wolf adds than we did with Siren.

I have since done a few runs to show FC members through and we have yet to fail this dungeon. If you can clearly communicate what needs to be done and your party members have enough brains to listen and act accordingly then it is pretty simple.

Burn the crawling adds first, the standing ones aren't so bad. Stand under Siren for the big attack. Rinse, repeat. As SMN I also tend to LB the last set of adds if possible. Done deal Smiley: wink

After the first try of Siren with very little explanation, I said oh its the Hydra fight all over again right?

HM is crazy easy. The second boss is actually my favorite battle out of anything I have ever played in FFXIV. Easy tomes there.

Copperbell, the first boss is annoying for dual caster dps, especially if you are on PS3. The little fireball appears out of nowhere and zips along through the mess of other enemies making targeting him a seriosuly annoying experience. And if you dont hit him quick, boom, game over. Our solution was to pull the boss all the way to the end, aoe the adds, and bust the little fireballs as soon as they appeared.

And I have not had the privelege of being grouped up for Pharos Sirius. Sounds intense.

actually you can just pretend you're afk and not hit the button to accept it, then re-queue... no penalty. Smiley: grin

I thought with DR you dont see which dungeon it is until you enter the dungeon.

Yeah I'm pretty sure you don't know until you're in the instance for DR.

I've gotten Siren down to a science now, even walking several DF groups through her.

Best option is to have the tank pull her to the center and spin her 180 degrees. Everyone else stacks on her butt. Kill Sergeants with extreme prejudice and let one DD deal with the Privates while the other stays on Siren. A SMN/SCH is very useful because Miasma II can hold the Sergeants back if they reach the middle and give the DDs more time to deal with them. When she flies up in the air, Medica II or Sacred Soil/Succor as everyone stacks right under her. Eat the damage if the rushes you and just heal up, its easier than trying to coordinate dodging and moving to and from the center to avoid the AOE Charm. Make sure the tank knows to stun Lunatic Voice. Between Stuns, AOE heals, and dead adds you're guaranteed a lvl 2 LB by the time she reaches 20% or so, so use it and unload on her FTW. Currently at 11 wins out of 12 PS runs through the DF with that strategy.

I have the greatest trouble with the first boss. The trick with him is to kill him slowly. The number of dogs he summons seems to be proportional to how fast he is losing HP. If you only have the tank beating on him and maybe a couple DoT spells, he won't call more than 4 dogs at once. If you have melees wailing on him with 1k+ weaponskills he'll call them in 7 and 8 at a time and just wipe you over and over with the crystal debuff explosions.

HM hard is pretty easy once the mechanics are spelled out, however my DF group couldn't beat the last boss. We didn't have enough DPS. I'm ilvl 71 but I think the others in my group were in the low 50s.

There's talk that the ilvl requirement is too low at 48, and also that if you use a LB on the last boss that it moves the boss's rotation up a step and she absorbs a pt member and a final blood rain that wipes the PT.

Despite all those problems it was fun, but it was the first dungeon outside of Ifrit HM that I've hit a hard DPS check.

Yeah HM hard, if your DD cant kill the adds before she absorbs them it gets super rough. Even if they cant beat the adds, its still a winable fight.

Actually Siren is way easier if everyone has some sort of healing for themselves including the chest with potions that people always overlook. The Zu fight is easy. Just kill one of the glowing eggs and let the others hatch. Kill adds then go back to Zu. The first fight is still what i don't get, but i'm assuming its actually not good to be close together if someone has to many crystal debuffs on them. And yes a party full of the ilvl requirements can beat the dungeon if they know what they're doing.

For the first boss, iirc if you get three stacks of the Crystal Debuff you set off an AoE explosion and everyone has to run from you. Best to get far away or let it wear off.

Well I did the dungeon once as a white mage. We made it to siren with no losses and was extremely easy to Siren. But we could not beat Siren. I sat their and listened to the tank rip me a new butt hole then he left. We got a new tank who said he would save us only to fail.. Turns out the way to beat it is the tank needs to stun Lunatic Voice... Well neither tank ever did that and blamed me. Whm avoid this dungeon unless you run it with a good group you know. This is hard on a whm.. Whm is hard enough why put a dungeon that is so hard. I just love how everyone always blame whm for everything. I am surprised anyone plays WHM in this game. I played ffxi so I know what tuff is.

Playing whm in this game is easier than FFXI because you basically cast heal and ensuna. This game is far harder on a whm though than FFXI because you constantly have to move. When you are moving you cant heal. It is very hard to watch everyone health and have to move at the same time while watching for things you need to debuff. It is not easy and Dps need to shut up or play the job themselves.

My point is this game is short healers already why put a dungeon in that make healers think twice about being a healer. Believe me I like the challenge but I am not going to sit there and get ******* at the whole time when it is not my fault. Especially when it is my first time.

Also dps should carry stuff like potions or have abilities to help heal (like second wind) on bosses like this it would be a big help.. I have never seen a game like this where very few carry potions or food. You are not always going to get a heal if the whm is having to move.. Also in most cases dps should not be getting hit.. A whm main job is to heal the tanks.

I think it stinks to get this far and not get anything unless you beat Siren.. That is why it is so disappointing.

The best way to beat the first boss is actually dps slowly.. The faster you go, the faster adds that spawn. It also gives the crystals that stack a chance to break, they stay on for like 20 seconds.

Amazing. I had my first loss in Pharos in over a week last night. We wiped at ZU like 13 times.

"Break one egg. Kill the other adds that spawn, starting with the Cockerels." How difficult is that, really? Instead I got repeatedly murdered (SCH) by the rapid fire ranged attacks of 2 or 3 of them at a time. I look up and people are fighting the Pullets or hitting the boss.

I cannot power heal through 45 seconds of being hit for 250 damage three times a second from three adds. I could keep everyone else up through the AOEs and add damage, but the ranged all went for me and nobody would protect their healer. >:(
