So, for those of you planning to contribute mucho gil to your FC housing, is this pretty much your statement of intent to remain with your FC? I for one don't know about my FC, we have a few people that are on the fence about staying with ARR with EQNext and other games coming out. One is going back to WoW, others are starting to go missing for a few days here and there, they don't have that urge to log on every day now, so I may not be here always.

Our gm jokingly said the other night that he was thinking of interviewing people for invites to the FC, and asking them how much they could contribute to the bank weekly. Nobody laughed. This is what it's feeling like there now, we're only as good as the gil we can provide.

And if you add things only 1 percent of the population can afford they will go missing for even longer till they dont want to log on again... Cant make a game where only one percent of the people can have stuff.. Then you have people like HonkeyKong29 and IKickYoDog with their elitism think because we dont play the game like them and have lots of money WE should go suck eggs.. Non of this is good for the game.. The last week I have known more people who are starting to think this game is not going to do well and are thinking about quitting. Even some talking about going back to FFXI.. Wana know how we know this move is bad? Watch SE will change this proving who was right.. 90 percent of the people are complaining.. Too many people to upset it is bad for the game. Even people who were defending this game no matter what are saying this is a bad thing and defending the game less and less.. You may have a million and a half PLAYING now but the hard part is holding on to those people ....

If you're a casual player why are you even concerned with FC housing? Why not wait for the more affordable personal housing?

Because FC housing should be casual content, and other than the pricetag, it is. It was touted as such by the devs themselves. Let me ask you this... what exactly is it about housing that makes it worth the prices they have charged? Does it open up mega-nightmare mode dungeons? Does it drop super rare gear? Is there currently any benefit to it other than to encourage FC comradery and fulfill gamers needs for vanity? I mean, if it doesn't really offer anything besides a casual place to hang out, relax and decorate currently, why would a casual player/FC be forced to grind incredible amounts of gil just to afford it? I've stated this same argument in every imaginable way I can think of... if it still doesn't sink in for you yet, it's never going to, so just drop it.

I think part of the problem has been the perception that FC housing would primarily be a status symbol for the rest of Eorzea to gawk at in wonder and awe. That somehow, having housing is primarily to impress other players.

It is not.

I have the sense (and feel this way myself) that FC housing was a place for FC members to gather and hang out and have fun in each other's company. It has nothing to do with what other people see, it was for us, for our FC (or you for yours). I saw it as our little part of Eorzea that we could call our own.

And while maybe we wouldn't have invested a small county's GDP in gil in buying it, we would have invested time in improving it and making it a home for our FC members. We would have invested time, and laughter and memories into it that would be far more valuable to me than gil.

That SE sees this as a monetary exchange instead of a means of strength game community ties is the real disappointment that I am feeling at this time.

Edit: Late to the party.

At this point, I'm just going to give my FC gil as I can and not worry about it. Lamia is on the 2nd cheapest tier of servers, but with our fairly low population we should have been on the bottom.
