My biggest problem with the game so far...Follow

#1 Jun 28 2013 at 10:29 PM Rating: Good
I don't know what the !$#% I'm gonna do when it comes to re-creating my char on release day. I've made 3-4 different characters so far...and they all look pretty good. I'm assuming others are in the same boat and are probably gonna be stuck on the character creation screen for hours!?

Definitely leaning towards male mi'qote at this point. I wanted Galka, but they're just too damn big.

Out of curiosity, how can you tell?

People said that about monks in FFXI for a long time when it wasn't true. Monks just weren't bursty, so their damage was harder to see at a glance. Absent a parser to actually do the math here, I'm curious how you arrived at pugilists being bad dps.

I really want my main to be Elezen (homage to my FF11 character), so I forced myself to not create one for Phase 3. Same thing with starting in Limsa... saving MRD and that storyline for release.

So that means I've created one of every other race and you're right, the models all look fantastic. Glad I pigeonholed myself to avoid your dilemma :)
#7REDACTED, Posted: Jun 28 2013 at 11:22 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) It shouldn't be that hard to decide. There aren't that many options. As someone who always gets lost in character creators, this one only took a couple of minutes.

I've spent a lot of time on the creator so I'm pretty set on how my character's gonna look. Here he is http://i.imgur.com/I763h81.jpg

To be fair, the vast majority of time spent playing FFXI was leveling. Due to the abilities of mobs, most people were fighting paladin types to keep the damage taken to a minimum and balancing that with still being able to keep chains up. This meant you generally fought crabs or crawlers where you could and blunt damage type lost to pretty much everything else.

Its personal preference and all, but yes we need to educate WoW players that this is OUR game, these are Characters and not Toons. Time to beat that into them one at a time.

Ya, I'm leaning towards this right now...but lots of time to decide.

It was a choice between midland Hyur and moon seeker Miqote.

Hyur won out. It's classic.

Welcome to the asian MMO market! Try making a manly looking male miqo'te, it ain't really happening. There's the one option and it's pretty hideous. Every other face looks pretty feminine, only way to man it up is adding facial hair.

I've pretty much settled on my character. I might make his hair a shade lighter as it looks black 90% of the time instead of dark blue. I may also change his skin color a bit as it looks weird in some lights.

I can't decide either. I've settled for female mi'qote, since Lalafels don't look at nice as Taru's. Something with the eyes bugs me. Can't decide on colourings though. Keep going back between blonde and brunette and then the high lights! Too many options!

But... but... if you join the Limsa Grand Company, you can get pirate hooks, a pirate shirt, and a pirate hat with Eyepatch! How could you resist?

While I wasn't one of those that rate you down I hope you understand why they rate you down.

Now let's see if the defenders of justice that are camping me rate me down! :P

It's not about the class, it's about the Job.

You pretty much just suck

Argh! I'm in exactly the same boat. I was a career 2 character tarutaru in XI, so I never really even experienced the game through the eyes of another race. I've decided definitely no Lala for XIV - I need a change, I always hated not being able to see any of the gear on tarus except body and head, and especially the low HP factor. When I created the tarus, there were so few refresh options and mp was king, and I was basically a career mage, so it was great. With Abyssea and as the game has aged...having 1000 hp less than other races at times (before abyssites) was a huge problem.

Sounds like racial stats won't be such a factor in XIV, so probably going to be a man cat.

I'm an Altaholic, so I see no issue for me. My main character, after bringing it back from 1.0, won't be changing much. I'll experment with hairstyles once the stylist comes out, but beyond that, she's not changing much at all. (Just want to make her look a little older to signify her adventures in 1.xx)

The thing I love about betas is that I'm not scared to play around with the various races, and i don't have to worry about not getting the perfect look right away. I tried a bunch of characters out, and I decided that I like my characters tall so it was between a roegadyn and elezen. The roegadyn feels a bit clumsy to me (personal opinion, don't yell at me) so I'm going with a duskwight elezen. I typically play mage classes, and I really like how the elezen look in glasses!

My problem is I want to become a girl... lol. All MMOs and RPGs I take the male role and I'm tired of looking at them. I would rather be a chick but I feel like it makes me a creep. In FO: NV I created one of my daughters. That was cool, helping them survive through the wasteland but its solo.

I don't want no dudes trying to hit on me... Like people were doing to all the "male" Mithra in FFXI, lol.

Is it wrong if I go female, or should I just stay a guy. Either way I have to redo it all.

I was set on being a Miqo'te, (as I was in 1.0) but I don't mind the male Hume this time around.

I'm actually having a fun time with GLD so far, and might roll that as my main along with PLD at least in the beginning to get groups.

I have seen a few similar "me's" running around but it's not as bad as it was in FFXI where I had other characters look exactly like me.

Anyway I was never an altoholic so I actually think I'm set!
