Question on classesFollow

Hello everyone,

I am a complete Final Fantasy virgin,and was lucky enough too take part in the last FFXIV ARR beta testing phase(hoping i can continue to beta test) although the learning curve far surpasses any other game i have played, i am already in love with this fantastical amazing MMO.

that said,one of my many question(s) are......if i chose to be a DISCIPLE OF THE HAND does this exclude me from doing any of the other job from the other classes such as fishing,archer,conjurer etc ?.... and does race and or geography matter ?

I am really drawn to the race Miqo'te (played as one last phase) and would like to play one as my main character from here on out if it matters.

Any race from any nation on any class/job can switch to another at their whim. Its as simple as changing weapons. All races and all classes can change to a different class without restriction, aside from being out of combat. However I do think there is another restriction of needing to be lvl 10+ and doing that class' lvl 10 quest to change from your initial starting class. I'd need confirmation on that as I havent really changed classes on any 1 character in the beta as of yet.
