Hey everyone, my girlfriend's brother mentioned that he got a code from watching the trailer on the PS3. He said that he registered and everything but was unable find the download. I was wondering where he needs to go/what he needs to do to get it installed.... also, is this something still going on. i was thinking aobut getting it going on my ps3 and letting my g/f borrow it and play. thanks in advance.
His main issue seems to be that he can't figure out where to download the beta.

Did he register the code through his accounts or through store? Registering through store is what I did and it popped almost instantly.

There should be a 12 digit code, like when you get free DLC for PSN. Just have him go input that code and that will download the installer/patcher into the "Games" heading of the dashboard. Once you open that for the first time, it will walk you through the rest of what you need to do.
The code you enter at the Playstation level should have popped up the download when he entered the code there.
If he cancelled it, it should still be available to download out of the master list of downloads you've paid for.

He mentioned that he got the code on PSN but it told him to register on SE's site.. he thinks that the code was longer than 12 digits. He apparently was able to enter the code on his SE account no problem and it says that it's beta enabled... oh and i think he ended up buying 1.0 anyway.. would that mean that he coudl still get into the ps3 beta without a code?

Emails came with 2 codes. 1st one for SE and a 2nd one for the playstation. Has he rechecked his invite for a second code?
We'll figure it out in a few mins, apparently he wasn't at home. I'll have him check. I appreciate the help everyone, it's a pain trying to do all of this long distance and no idea what to to lol.

I'm now currently attempting to download the beta on my PS3. I already have the client installed and am currently "patching". The download had run smooth up until about an hour ago where it has been stuck on "Updating FFXIV". The bar hasn't moved and it apprears no downloading is taking place.. I remember this happened a couple times during the PC installation, but it didn't take nearly this long. Did anyone else have this issue? should i restart?

I read that they were having issues currently and its down, restart and try again. Try in the morning if problem continues.
Thanks. I restarted it and it looks like it's going agian. Thankfully it didn't have to start the download over again. Hopefully it'll keep going throughout the night.

I had similar issues. I also received a black screen of death for the first time. Held the power button down until it beeped and then shut it self down.
Restarted the console and went back again, and continued the download. I just let it run and went off to sleep.

The 12 digit code is entered in the PS store, Redeem Codes section.
After that, you can download software for ARR.
After that, you get a screen for entering you SE user name and pw
After that, you agree to TOS,
After that, you enter the 20 digit code,
After that, a bigger download happens,
somewhere in between you get updates (3)
After that, well, you pretty much have to wait till the beta starts again this weekend.
