I received an email telling me to return to ffxiv. There's not a lot of new info, but is does state that all 1.0 players will get to play ARR for free for a limited time.

Correct, I think they're giving you the new client and 30 days for free.

Yeah that's a pretty sweet email. Free month and lodestone access in 3 days for those who weren't legacy. Pretty decent package.

I also receive this email.
I bought the original but have not been playing since Jan 2012. I have since removed the program from my PC.
If I want to play ARR, do I need to re-install the original before I can update to ARR?

Ever since I heard about the change, I been having mix feelings and thinking about weather to purchase ARR or not. Now its free to try, I think I will give it a shot again.

You won't need to purchase ARR after the free 30 days either, anybody who bought the original gets a free upgrade. Smiley: smile
