February 11th release date... (NA) It looks good. I was just under the impression it would be released this year. Oh, well. I doubt anyone's overly-excited to see this released.
Terrible voice acting still! I guess they had to keep the same voice actors... I just wish they'd hire better ones at the start.

really? i don't find it THAT bad. i could hop on netflix and find a ton of movies with actors much worse than these people.
yeah really i found NOTHING wrong with the voice acting in that game... but then again Im an 80s kid.. I come from the days when anime dubs have 12 year old boys with voiced deeper than Barry White's (and a Japanese guy calling people "chap" and talking a CLEAR English accent (see the Samurai X motion picture) and where games like Resident Evil 1 on the PS1 existed..
I listed to the "bad" voice acting in games and anime today then think of stuff like anime in the 80s and resident evil 1 and ask myself "wtf is wrong with these people? i dont see ANYTHING wrong with this voice acting"... I mean if you want to hear REAL bad voice acting:

more like until you can show me what GOOD voice acting sounds like then FFXIII is considering good by todays standard while the crap in that link (or resident evil 1) is what constitutes as horrible
I think the voice acting is quite good! The game looks like utter garbage though.
I have mixed feelings about this one... Some of it looks enjoyable the rest is probably just another one button mashing endless abyss...
I hate anime dubs so that's a bad example to bring up. Original JP only!
Sadly, the best voice acting I've heard coming out of an American studio in the last ten years was on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
SE should have hired Tara Strong for Lightning.

Yeah, she did a great job with Rikku!
(I'm being heavily sarcastic - she actually is a great voice actress though I haven't seen MLP, but wow Rikku was bad
I usually prefer the original voice acting, but in the case of the XIII games and Kingdom Hearts, I certainly prefer the English.

That's because she deliberately went high and squeaky to be a teenage girl. Her normal voice is a bit lower.
Her Harley Quinn is a good example of voice acting done right. Also Nolan North.

For me, I actually prefer Japanese for FMA (by far), but there are definitely some anime where the English voice is better. There are anime like Cowboy Bebop where the Japanese people prefer the English voice acting.
I think it just comes down to quality. The localization budget is oftentimes small when it comes to Japanese products coming westward, and good voice actors just don't get hired.
I think XIII (and its however many sequels) has good English voice acting - fantastic if you're comparing it to other JRPGs.
About Tara Strong and Rikku, I get what she was doing with her voice, but it was just all wrong. She's a really talented voice actor, so I'll just pin it to bad direction or something...

0 interest in this game. The characters in 13 and 13-2 to me seemed to go out of their way to make me dislike them. Couldnt grow to like them at all. Sazh was probably the closest, but then got shoe-horned into the token funny black guy role. Vanille or however she was spelt stuck me as an attempt at an Aerie (from BG2) type character, but in the end I just wanted her to suffer permenant laryngitis.
Best Final Fantasy game ever. FF XIII > FF VII. Lightning would kick Cloud's ***. Best voice acting in the series, FF VII is racist. All the FF VII fan boys can get butt hurt and downrate my comment and reply with "BACK IN NAM VIDEO GAMES WERE DA **** NOW THEY GOT BETTER GRAPHICS OMG I GO KILL MYSELF" before ever realizing I'm trolling.
Troll on brother. I doubt anyone will care. On a more serious topic...I am actually looking forward to rapping this saga up. And voice acting? I don't think anyone in this game is worse than Vaan, as much as I loved that game. Hearing him run around saying "I am Bosch Van Ronsenburg of DALMASCA!" a hundred times for that part of the story gave me and my roommate joke material for years.
