So pumped up for something new. New adventures, new people, new things to explore. Starting a 'new' MMO and integrating myself into a whole new community. It's exciting.

Definitely less shy than when I started with MMO's which will help with the social aspect right from the get go!

Cannot wait!

I actually quite enjoyed fishing in 1.0, and from what I've heard, they basically revamped the mini-game for all crafts, making them a bit simpler, but seemingly more enjoyable as well. I haven't seen the interface for fishing anywhere, but I'm assuming it got a similar overhaul to the others, and should be quite user-friendly and engaging. At least I hope so.

Me too, I loved fishing in XI (106 + ebisu). I hope the 2.0 version is as enjoyable, the exploration aspect of trying catch specific fish was always something I enjoyed in XI.

Ebisu eh? Now that's a fisherman ;)

Took me forever because I refused to buy the fish from people, which meant going out to get my own Key Items and the Albatross Rings for pulling up Gugru and Lik...

The one fish that is bullsh*t in that game is Matsya (has a chance to drop a crafting skill +1 cape with Zaldon), you have to catch Cave Cherax (not easy in their own right), trade them to Zaldon for a 30% chance at bait being inside them, then go try to catch Matsya and hooking items and other sh*t 90% of the time, then another 7-8% of line breaks....yeah. People wonder why they sell for 200k each.

Lol I feel like a badass when I think about getting LuShangs, then I read this and realize my accomplishment was nothing!

You can feel like a badass, I caught all 10,000 of my carp as well and it's no small feat, especially once they nerfed how many you could catch in one day. The mathematics are insane.

The only negative part of it all is that I've lost all interest in playing anything else until release. Other than that, I'm really looking forward to ARR.

I had a dream one night years ago when I was struggling to choose between WoW and FFXI. All of my friends had gone to WoW and it was more "fun" in some ways, but I was still in love with FFXI. In my dream a gateway opened in Jeuno and we were able to travel between Vanadiel and Azeroth freely, our abilities stayed, but the mechanics were the same in their respectable realms. Suddenly all of my friends from both games could play together. It was the most awesome MMO I've ever experienced. I was very disappointed when I woke up. . .

Anyway, that was many moons ago, but I feel like ARR is a fulfillment of that dream in a way. It seems to have the entertaining aspects and combat of a western mmo combined with the soul of a Final Fantasy game. I may get flamed for expressing my enjoyment of other MMOs, but either way ARR looks to be promising. Besides, I need to stop going out so much!

That's actually a great way to describe the game and is what I find really exciting about it also. Cool dream btw, that would be pretty amazing if it were real.

I would be lying if I said I wasn't getting a bit giddy.

I just don't wanna get burned (although I'm pretty sure I won't be).

The irony is, I don't really want to play the beta (even though I signed up for it) because I want it to be a new and fresh experience when I start the game again...for the first time.

We'll see. :)

My heart has been pounding all day, since I received the SE newsletter announcing the release. PS3, not chosen for Beta, but now chomping at the bit.

I just finished reading the book: Ready Player One and it mentioned all the games I played (didn't mention any online gaming though). So I've been missing FFXI.

I'm not happy that we will all be on the same servers (PC and PS3) because of the hacks PC users were famous for back in the day.

That being said, I look forward to playing.

I bought the CE of FFXIV 1.0 (is that what you call the original?) back in the day, and like mostly everyone else I was left feeling so let down and frustrated. I quit well before they started charging to play, and since then I'm only been peeking in every couple of months or so out of mild interest in the direction the revamp has been heading. I haven't been on ZAM in so long I'm surprised it didn't make me long in again on my browser (I pretty much only got on ZAM for FFXI and then FFXIV all those years).

At any rate, SE has piqued my interest again, with their FFXIV youtube videos that I'm subscribed to as well as the emails I've been getting. I've been playing WoW for over a year straight, and now that I got the Long Strange Trip meta achieve I'm in the mood to drop it again soon i think. I always jumped back and forth between WoW and FFXI starting in 2004, switching from one to the other when I got bored or wanted to throw my computer out the window due to the COP quest chain.

I'm ready to catch up again and learn what will be different, and at this point the game has been so far off my radar that I have no idea what it will be like. It certainly looks better than the hot mess i played at the original 'launch'.

If Square pulls this reboot off, it'll be the biggest comeback in gaming since Final Fantas....wait a minute....

I will never be able to play this like I want to due to work and obligation now, but I'm very excited to just be in there playing.

lol I started XI as a student, will be playing XIV as a surgeon. Getting old blows. It's getting played, I don't care if I have to bring a PS3 to the call room.

This is the only release of the year that I'm looking forward to. I'm stoked for it. Can't wait.

I am excited for the release. I am wondering what is going to happen when the release of the PS 4 ? Will it be able to port over ?

I asked him that in my interview and he said they were focusing on the PS3 first (at this time the PS4 wasn't official yet). I believe I've read in interviews since then that they will look at it once the game is out for the platforms currently promised.

I am buying a new laptop that can run the game nicely and I will be farming and crafting while I work in this dimension. If things get to tough or my boss hates it, Ill just quit.

Been actively monitoring the concept of ffxiv for months.....now that it is a reality and I have pre-ordered I also cannot wait!

Having been a late player to ffxi yet enjoying it so much I am most looking forward to enjoying a MMO from launch with the thousands of others.....that part to me is going to be most amazing!

I informed my wife I would be preordering! I played ffxi for about 5 years. FFXIV looks amazing so far!

How did she take it? If my wife knew what FFXI was like for me the years I played she would throw my PS3 out the window.
