How goes this game these days?Follow

The game has probably changed a lot since you last played. It is not very newb friendly as you heard. But this game is about the end-game, after you hit 50. Most people playing have done the leveling thing already, and if starting a new toon, just want to get it to 50 as quick as possible. Because Mythic has ways for people to do it, that means truly new people to the game do have problems finding people to group with.

I know our guild has probably had 20 or so completely new people come to it in the past year, and many simply love the game, so although it is not the same as before, it still offers a lot of fun to most. You have to be patient though, and at least wait until you are Thidranki level (20-24) to start to see if you like it. Up until this point, you are sort of on your own in leveling unless you find someone else around. They do exist, just hard to find.

I'm a no-kidding newbie to the game, and I must concur with the others' statements. The game's recent improvements, player base, and supporting sites (forums, etc) mostly focus on the 50+ crowd. However, there is something to be said about perserverance and the right attitude. My husband and I came to this game when our interest in EQ fizzled out after five long but wonderful years playing that game. We found some knowledgeable players to coach us along the way here -- all higher level, of course, so it's lonely most of the time -- and we found a haven of good conversation and mature online community to enjoy. You have to be willing to endure quite a few hardships in this game as a newbie, though. If I didn't have years of Everquest gameplay behind me, I'd be so lost in the sauce I would have given up the first week.
