I am a noob. To MMORPGs. I've played WoW since release because my son and daughter thought it would be cool. And I've been hooked. But, I'm getting tired of the amount of idiocy that 6.5 million subscribers bring to the table. And I'm tired of the "raid or die", "you can't raid because your gear isn't good enough" garbage.

I want to try something new. I have NO idea what DAOC is like, other than what I've read on the website. My preference in WoW was towards melee, even though they were pretty much easy kills to casters. I like PvP, but I'm not married to it. Mostly, I'm looking for something that keeps my interest and allows me to get to know other people.

I know this isn't much of a question. But it is honest. I'm an old guy and I want to have fun. Is DAOC fun?

DAOC is like other MMORPG's. Difference is the grafics. Dosent look so cartoonie. You can easelly solo alot of mobs defined in the same color frames. except you cant kill grey's for loot. You have a wide range of crafting aswell as types of toons to make. Casters, Healers, Light tanks, Heavy tanks, farmers, ect... Each realm has it's on unique setting. Really easy to get in to guilds and alliances. The gm's normelly have a site that shows you days and times of upcomming events like artafacts (Items that enhance your toons abilities if templated) But credit is still go to have incase you change it. Master level's opens a new area to the toons. Gives them abilities to effectivelly help then in the RVR zone. and some help in PVE zones aswell. Really you wont know if you like it till you log in and play for a fuew months. The battle to 1-50 is a tough one but it's defentelly easier than WOW. Minus the resting point in a INN that gives you that X2 to experence for so far on your bar.

my opinion would not be that the biggest difference to WoW and DAoC is the graphics, but instead that Realm vs. Realm warfare is what the endgame is about.

It is available to all people at all times (no wait lists) and is on very large scale proportions (occasional involving hundreds of players fighting against each other in keeps or open field).

NO game can compare with DAoC in Player versus Player combat.
