Hello there, I just downloaded the free trial of DAOC, also I downloaded the free expansion for it as well.
Sorry for asking the same old questions but...

What is the difference between the classic and normal servers?

Is it worth purchasing the catacombs expansion early on or is it more of an end game expansion?

What is the solo play like? Can you solo till the end levels or do you have to group to progress, I have played FFXI and WoW so I am used to both setups.

I downloaded the trial because I wanted to experience RvR, however whenever I have gone in I am alone. What is the best level to start RvR.

Thanks in advance for any replys, sorry for asking questions I'm sure you have explained a hundred times before lol. I had a couple more but have forgot what they where now :S

I'm usually the one asking questions , but i'll try

Classic and normal servers- Classic servers don't have ToA items. It seems that many players think that ToA items ruined the game by having overpowered items that cuased to big of a Have/Not Have advantage. There is also some sort of "buff bot" restriction on Classic.

There are many Catacombs Quest that give great xp at all levels. There are a few classes that are Catacomb expansion or higher only.

You can solo at any level, PvE or RvR. You'll just die more ungrouped.

I play on the PvP server so i can't help with which lvl to start RvR.

TOA Items....Trials of Atlantis...the third expansion....offers among many things the following.

Artifacts....for example...mini quests...which in most cases....means waiting for them to pop (on timers)...need groups most of the time...and for your trouble you will get special armor, weapons, jewels etc that do special things...a jewel that will turn you into a cat for example, or specific things that will help you be more powerful or efficient based upon the type of character you are playing.

When you get these artifacts however...you need to level them in certain areas of the DAOC world to get them to full power and use.

TOA...is also the place where you do your master levels, and are for the most part group experiences and in many cases battle group encounters...which means lots of groups...so therefore, if you are planning to try this area, it is advisable...to first level up in tast dungeons, join a good guild in a large player friendly alliance.

Darkness Rising, another expansion...ends with you becoming a "Kings Champion" in a specific dungeon....but all the above mentioned things, in my opinion....come after you feel your way around the game....level up, do quests, learn to group...etc, etc.

Almost like school...but here you are meant to have fun.

I prefer the whole fantasy thing with the PVE...RVR is good for many...and even at a low level, you will get transported to an area for your level.

Hope I explained some things for you.

Just a quick note, unless I am horribly mistaken, leveling artifacts can be done anywhere not just in specific zones. Ie in the old days, a given artie might have to be taken to Shrouded Isles to level. Made a few other changes, which make it a lot easier, ie you have the encounter and you get credit for the encounter, used to be if you spent 3 hours and the item didn't drop, oh well try again next respawn. Great for the casual gamer who doesn't have 3 hours at a time. Or 6 or all day etc, you get the the idea. Just my two coppers worth...

All the above pretty much sums it all up mate!! But to let you no RvR side It starts at level 20

Level 20-24 battleground 1 - Thidranki- This is a very popular battleground used by many and it offers some great solo or group RvR Although this place can get abit cramped. Here is a way to test your moves spells etc etc if you are new to the game!! it gives you a little insight to what the RvR may be like in New Frontiers at level 50.

There also many other battlegrounds upto the level of 45 of which i cannot name as i do not tend to play them along with many others,Manywill tend to use task dungeons as mentiond above and then slowly move to places like PoC and ToA which you will become aware of while playing the game!!

On a personal note If you can find a guild which suits you best and meet some friends i am sure you will enjoy the game and choose to play it more regulary. Since it has first come out the expansions and patchs have been able to offer alot more from more tasks quests and places were the exping can happen alot more quicker!!!

If you ever need any help in game,if you choose to play midgard excal or midgard Cumbria then just drop me a PM anytime. Anyone will help im sure of it

goodluck and have fun
