^^ Updated my first post up to day 23. Nothing new to note cept for the new headband thingy which still seems to be really limited. Anyways, sorry for the delay...transformer in front of house blew up and left me without electricity for 20+ hours.

Anyways, Cupapa hit level 40 this last time and to my surprise, she cast haste on herself then on me a few seconds later. Needless to say, I was pretty happy. Also, since dropping pearl seems to have a negative effect now, I'm only gonna go with one calling a day from now on.

Level 38 - took him out right after update.

Stayed for just under one hour (55 minutes)I didnt count mobs.

His response before leaving was new:

Well, well. Quite some time has passed. I take my leave of you. Until we meet again.

comments mentioning time mean that your time limit expired, rather than reaching your kill limit. (you may have known this, if so - I'm sorry)

Well... I waited a while to get my NPC... but here are how things have gone so far:

Day1 - Shortly after receiving my Signal Pearl, I head out to Rolanberry as 42THF/NIN. My mithra NPC, Tsuim, and I start killing random EP-- gobs and such in Rolanberry, along with the occasional quadav. Occasionally we rest, then get back to fighting. I manage to get aggro from a gob... so I start fighting, and my NPC vokes. It wasn't long, but it was long enough to catch an uber StoneII to the face. I regain hate, but a gobbiebomb finishes my NPC. So I killed the gob and a few more out of vengeance, and head back to jeuno. Later I checked my Rendezvous Point and saw that she still had Scale Mail... but the legs we no longer scale mail, and had downgraded to what looked like the lvl 1 RSE legs (quite attractive, nonetheless).

Day2 - Determined not to allow the same thing to happen, I head out to Rolanberry as THF42/WHM13. We'd fight, then heal, then fight, and so on. Overall we did pretty good against the EP- and EP-- quadavs and goblins we were fighting, along with the occasional goobbue. I get a pt invite, so I wave farewell to her and talk to her to let her leave before zoning to Lower Jeuno (kinda lame, but I thought it was fun). Checking up with her again, she was now wearing Lizard armor... with those classy white suspected RSE bottoms still.

Day3 - This time I'm THF/NIN, and still in Rolanberry. I frequently check her health, making sure she doesn't get too low. It was rather boring... we mainly just ran around killing more EPs. Then she left. Nothing exciting this time. After checking up with her again, she was still level 30, but now had the options of changing her fighting style. I chose Attacker for the next time out. She was also wearing Chainmail, with those same white bottoms.

Day4 - Last night. I ran out into Rolanberry as THF44/NIN22, and we quickly began mowing through things. As attacker, I noticed she didn't voke, and instead just attacked constantly. She also seemed to use weaponskills a lot more liberally, usually Flat blade or Burning blade. I'd hold my tp... usually I'd be at around 150% when she used her WS. I'd SC it with Cyclone. One particularly awesome moment was when she used Burning blade, and I followed up with a Cyclone for a 40-damage Fusion on a Quadav. This time, I mainly fought TW's and was farming crawlers. We didn't stop to heal at all, which could explain the rather short amount of time she stayed with me, supposing the Stamina thing plays a roll. After checking on her, She's now wearing what looks like Scale Mail or Steam Scale mail, and no longer has those white bottoms. I also set her for Healing.

May be elsewhere in the thread, but I noticed it's a recent topic.

I can add that you can't call it in either Misareuax Coast or Lufaise. Tried yesterday without any luck. Which stinks because it's another perfect zone to level your NPC in.

I want to add my theory about NPCs TNL being based on how many mobs they've killed and their current level.

For example, Turt's NPC was LV39 and he said it leveled after 40 kills. This goes hand in hand with my theory that my NPC will level to 38 after 38 kills. Anyone else want to test this? I can't summon it twice anymore to check but I'm keeping count.

I'm just wondering if anyone has obtained a 3rd weapon upgrade yet?

Im sort of holding off on the 2nd weapon (Tachi) "downgrade" to see if i get 3rd upgrade (if there is one)

I havent seen it yet, but NPCs get exp from stuff that their level would, your level doesnt matter.

And other jobs do you get different abilities.. I have mine set for Attacker and she occasionally attacks twice which keeps the hate off of me ^^

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this since the thread is so large. But it doesn't look like you need to call your npc out a certain amount of times to get things like upgrading equip, or change of jobs.

I didn't feel like dropping my pearl everyday so after i got my npc I called her once, waited 20 hours and called her the next day. After a few days I got the choice to change jobs, and a few days later the ability to upgrade her weapons. My npc just dinged 31 too.

Don't think so... try to cast Protectra, Shellra or any other -ra spell... it won't do you NPC any good. A regular party member would get the effect though.

Since the patch, my NPC stayed out beyond 15 kills, and longer than 45 mins when I called her. I dunno how long she would have stayed yet, cuz I ended up dying to links. She's level 33 now.

Can any one comment on whether or not your NPC can lvl up if you don't actually engage a mob, but rather just nuke/sleep manaburn style.

This is going to become a very important distinction for any mage classes, as there reaches a lvl where mages can no longer meelee anything safely, but need to switch over to the nuke/sleep/gravity strategy in order to kill anything.

If this were to be the case, mages would no longer be able to lvl their NPCs past maybe lvl 60ish mob types, without forming NPC skillup partys.

I got caught off guard yesterday, after a party ended I popped my NPC in a nearby area and started fighting stuff. Everything was either TW or EP but it was still pesky stuff I wouldn't normally fight alone. I expected to finish quick, but Radille refused to leave and I ended up running her to time limit (after getting her to L36). I *had* to have beat more than 15 mobs.

DO NOT DROP YOUR PEARL ANYMORE

I dropped my pearl and requested a new one, and the appearances option, which I had unlocked about five sessions ago, disappeared.

She's still wearing the headgear, but I no longer have the option to have her change it.

I guess someone had to bite the bullet and figure out what "relationship will worsen slightly" meant.

Now we know, and I'm not going to do it anymore after today.

How often does the NPC haste? It cant be any worse then when I'm in a pt and have to ask my mages after every fight ><

and exactly how is everyone lvling so fast ;;

Is there a set amount of fights predetermined for them to ding? I hit 31 three calls ago, one of them I fought for about 4 fights and then let her leave .

When mine dinged 40 she didnt cast it for a good 5 mins, then all of a sudden cast it on herself and me, she seemed to keep it active at all times. Recast once it ran out etc.

Gonna try that then. thx. NPC dings 40 next lvl can't wait for haste. Or even better lvl 41 for Refresh. God...that would be broken. :P
