Sockpuppet

A term to define an alternative account on a forum, normally made by a regular poster. Sockpuppets are normally used to stir trouble, make fake posts that will anger people, and by people to say things without worrying about their reputation being tarnished on their main account name

Examples would be like the account "Godhatesfags", which most people would probably agree was probably made by a regular here.

A secondary term for Sockpuppets, though, is that they are usernames that someone will rate up so that they have rating priviledges, and then use them to mass rate down people. More than once at that.

Explanation enough?
