Yup, I tried taking him on by myself. I got stranded at right before the fight (aggro link killed the party and everyone went back to town but I had no Scroll of Warp), so I tried fighting him. I lasted a respectable amount of time and feel I died in style.

Dying in style is when EES does 900 damage to your paladin, your BLM sucks at sleeping mobs, and the ZM6 ants kick your ***.
Edit: OK, so it was also partially my fault for healing the BLM before the paladin (full health is a paladin's best friend when fighting a RNG NM). In the BC's I did, keeping the person that sleeps the mobs alive was always a priority to me... but when they suck at it, why bother? If it wasn't for the bard, the BLM would have died in the first 3 minutes.

I remember that mission well. My first time through the pld got 1-hit KO'd and our blm had to keep the last ant asleep for like 6 minutes while the palading was raised and let rez sickness wear off.

No whisper. I have done the utsusemi:Ichi quest when I was foolish enough to try the ninja job. So I was forced to get tenshodo fame. Layed down ninja at level 16. Shihei stacks for 4.5k, omgwtfbbq.

there was a *** vid of a rdm 75 sub nin taking on darklord, long *** vid and i don't know where it is but I'll try find it. In the meanwhile if you know any amazing rdm out there that can record vids, ask em to give it a try. heh
