Does anyone know if you can cast your NPC in Cape Teriggan?

Anyone?

I don't know but why would you want to face level 62+ mobs for the risk to get killed?

Yes you can call them in Cape Terrigan, and Valley of Sorrows.

There are jobs out there that can kill them with nonexistant risk of being killed.

Someone mentioned Ro'Maeve as good for summoning an NPC..

Ro'Maeve is classified as a Dungeon. NPCs can NOT be Summoner in ANY DUNGEONS.

This Includes
LVL CAPPED DUNGEONS
Dungeons that LOOK like Outdoor areas but thebattle music is the Dungeon one.
Burning Circles.

Now....I'll leave..

You CAN call your NPC in Ro'Maeve. That's the first place my NPC was killed! :p
..Damn AoE...

Hm...

Ok I'm double checking if Ro'Maeve is a dungeon. Someone party up and listen to the Battle music..

Up until I heard this, I figured any place that plays Dungeon Battle music (i.e. If Escape works), the NPC wouldn't work in...and this had held true in that respect (that and the NPC hates mission-locked areas.)

Ro Maeve can't be escaped from. Do your research before making claims, please.

Being a lvl 75war/nin and my npc dinging 40, I was wandering about Cape for further areas to start leveling my npc when East Alltepa starts getting VT to my npc. Thanks for the info!

One thing I still have not seen an answer on is what kind of shields you can give your NPC. I know its not a popular choice for equipment, but still its one that should be known for sake of completeness.

When mine dinged 40 she didnt cast it for a good 5 mins, then all of a sudden cast it on herself and me, she seemed to keep it active at all times. Recast once it ran out etc.

Ah, was hoping it was like protect and such. But it would make Nin's slowing vt-it easy as pie :3

Well, I came looking for a list of the 2nd Weapon Upgrades you can give and found it. But I'd also like to add this...

Why does SE have to ruin everything they come up with that has potential? the NPC Buddy was doing a spectacular job...the first couple times I took her out she'd cure my paralysis, blindness ect. ect. before I even knew I had it. And I'd never fall into the orange. It was awesome...

Now that SE has 'updated thier behavior' she never cures my status ailments, she silences snippers O.o, and when I beat a T and am resting in the red, within seconds she's full on MP, suggesting she's not doing her job...

And so I ask why SE...why did you turn our new friends into newbs?

However, the first day she did better then the above mentioned, so I wonder now if maybe the day of week might somehow influence your NPCs performance?

Anyhow, has anyone else seemed to notice similar changes?

And lastly, unlike alot of people who are trying to level thier NPC from 30+ with already leveled jobs. I started adventuring with my Monk Lv. 18 and leveling it with her, so I was wondering if we could perhaps help each compile a list of reasonable places to Duo with your NPC?

As a Monk\War, and my NPC as a Healer we started out...

Lv. 18, Tahrongi Canyon, I fought DC-EM
Lv. 19-20, Valkurm Dunes, I fought DC-T

i think the npc is in a party with you, because i was able to cast haste on it.

It's not in a party with you-I couldn't refresh my NPC, and Refresh is PT only.

Haste can be cast outside PT members only.

you are not in a party with your Npc.
you want proof? You can not cast refresh, invis, sneak, protectra, shellra, or songs on them.
there are seperate filters for your npc. if you blosk party damage your npc's will still show.

Concider your npc a pet that you dont have control of. it will tell you some random stuff and some relivent stuff. You are able to buff your npc as long as its a spell you can cast on anyone. haste for instance, it can be cast on anyone, just like protect and shell.

I love how Square implimented the Npc's. The quest was fun. I cant say I have ever seen a stranger sight in game then 100 people in a line in Eldem. It was great. The npc's them selves are quite intresting. Its good Square leaves a little mystery to them.
The diffrent personalitys of them is also cool.

I have done a very stupid test to see if dual weild is possible. I dont belive it is but who knows.. I traded 2 kunia's to luto, i noticed only one was taken so i traded the other one. Gonna check Nokum out in a few and see if hes sporting two.

One cool think is my Npc is wearing what looks like Dark af body.

My NPC dinged 39 today. Didn't time because I had to leave early for shell event. Haven't noticed any changes.

I hear a LOT that they can dual weild, but haven't seen it yet.
It would be great to see a pic of it.

To people who changed the headgear. What are the possible choices so far? Sorry i checked few pages back and other threads but no info about it...

I suppose the headgear will update automaticly like the rest of the armour, you only get the choice weather your NPC equips it or not.

My NPC has been wearing a blue ribbon only so far.

I'm gonna go on a limb and assume that every area on this list is not NPC friendly.

http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/areas.html?fatype=Dungeon

As well as all cities, level capped areas, BC's, and Dynamis. (Not sure if you can call them in Sky/Sea/Space(?) though)

Thanks Fastcart for list of weapon upgrades post NPC lvl 35. I've been looking all over the place, ^^. One question though, are those the ONLY weapons that work so far? We still can't buy the NPC anything close to his/her lvl yet? Also, if so, would you mind listing those weapons as well.

On another note, I bought my NPC every single weapon off the first list. Will she alternate through all of them, or only use the last one I bought? So, far, she's used Spear, H2H, and Dagger, but, that happened right after I bought each one. Like, this last weapon I bought, was the dagger, and she's used that during our last two sessions. Will she change on her own, or is she just using that because it's the last weapon I bought her?

I have bought multiple weapons for my NPC, but she has only ever used the last weapon I traded. She is currently using a G. Axe and I suspect that if I want her to switch back to any of the previous weapons I will have to trade them to Luto again. So based on my experience the NPC will not switch weapons on their own. Personally I am glad, I would hate to summon my NPC set to attacker and have her pull out a Club. ^^

It seems my npc is staying out for 20 fights now instead of the original 15, I'll have to recount this on my npc run tonight to make sure.

She is lvl39 hopefully hitting 40 tonight.

Here is something odd that happened. I was leveling NPC with 3 other friends yesterday.

We had 2 party of 2 people (all NPC levelers) and a 3rd party of Zm12 people (6 people party).

so we were leveling fine, and then my NPC and 1 of my Friend's NPC filled their quota of the day and left.

Since its me and my bard friend in my party, we decided to merge party. Thus creating 1 party of 6, and 1 party of 4.

When the party of NPCs levelers (4 of us) formed, the 2 left over NPC disappeared.

I thought NPC only goes away if they bring the party number over 6? If so, I think this is a bug.

The total number of PC+NPC in one pt can only by 6 maximum. So, it can be 3 PC + 3 NPC, 4 PC + 2 NPC, 5 PC + 1 NPC, etc. Extending to alliances, that leaves 9 PC + 9 NPC (must follow the aforementioned pt rule tho).

You may have mis-counted or something?

P.S. You're welcome Nicest.
