Bazaar newbie indeed, I'm an all-around newbie.

So I found the bazaar and where to buy the trader satchel. Now I need to know if I'm the right track.

Nissa, my main toon can barely hold anything, so I made a barbarian beastlord to act as my trader. I'm wondering if that's a reasonable thing to do or a major social faux pas.

Also, are the people who aren't flagged as traders who are facing the wall too lazy to flag themselves afk or are they engaging in some arcane ritual?

While I've got a small bit of everyone's attention, are there any things about the bazaar that I probably won't know that you would care to share with me? I'd appreciate it.

Many people create 'toons strictly for the purpose of bazaar trading. There may be people who disapprove of it, but since SoE has made it very easy to transfer items between one character and the next on the same account, I'd have to say there's nothing really wrong about it. It's not truly NECESSARY though...while in the bazaar weight seems to mean practically nothing (which is good because plat in large quantities weighs a LOT, and some of those spells that the fragile casters need can cost plat in very large quantities indeed.)

People not flagged as trader yet facing the wall maybe be too lazy to flag themselves afk, or they may be searching for something using the /bazaar command. Even using the sorting filters, it can take quite some time to find the best upgrade for your plat. Or they may be trying to sell through /auction or /ooc ... particularly if the bazaar has reached it's limit of traders, or if they only have a couple items to sell and don't want to bother setting up as a trader.

As for special things to know about the bazaar: It currently has a limit of 550 traders...which it often reaches in the wee hours of the morning when people decide to leave their traders up overnight and hopefully wake up to some extra plat. Prices fluctuate rapidly, depending on how many people are selling an item, how fast someone wants to sell the item, and how common the item is. Common items such as spider silks tend to have a fairly stable price, whereas ornate armor molds/patterns have prices that seem to vary by the hour, and sometimes by the 10's of thousands of plat. At night prices tend to be relatively lower than in the daytime...as people setting up to trade overnight are likely to undercut the lowest current price. There are far fewer traders during the day, and more people shopping, so prices tend to be higher during the day.

Oh yes...and don't forget to put your trader sacks back in the bank before you leave the bazaar....they weigh a LOT and I've seen people get stuck once they zone out with all that weight on them.

Most points covered. One item though - due to the extreme graphical requirements of the bazaar (trying to render 100+ toons at once in full armor can be amazingly tough on the system) many people will turn to face the wall or stare at the floor or another neutral, low graphic area to reduce the lag that accompanies shopping in a full bazaar.

Or perhaps I'm the only one that does it for that reason :)

If you want to make a trader i would suggest an oger (easy to click on through the lag) and they are also really strong. Become a PVP person by turning in your book you get as a newb so your name turns red (easy to see though all the names) Buy a full suit of blackened alloy armor and dye it a bright color of your choosing or stay black. Make a name that is good and that is easy to remember. My trader is a oger named Kahymart =-). Maybe name him Whallmart or Fhrys =P. The easier it is to remeber, spot in a crowd, click on will increase your sales because people will keep coming back for more. It wont increase your sales if your prices are not good. And you if are selling a highly wanted item like spidersilks and velium/acrilya, you should have at least have 100 (spider silks) or a few bags of the item if they are not stackable.

here are some other tips you might take in mind.

Being close to the bank is always a good thing!!!!! and with an oger you should be able to take up a whole corrner of a tent =-P.

I made a hot button that is programed to say something that means "come buy my stuff cuz its the best." One button will be able to enter your message 3 times. My button looks something like this

/auction (insert catchy message here)
/pause 1000
/auction (insert catchy message here)
/pause 1000
/auction (insert catchy message here)
/pause 1000

there is only 6 lines and there is no way to start a chain that i have been able to figure out thus far. Proly cuz people took advantage of it and spammed.... Bastages

Get your trader a Greater Light Stone so that your area is lighter. (not really that important)

If a person (ther higher level the better) buys a large amount of the trade skill stuffs, send him or her a tell and ask him if he wants a personal pharmer. Find out if he needs anything else pharmed, and get a set price for each item. Make sure your price is lower than the lowest in the bazaar or at least close to it. (this is how i make my 1000's as a ranger)

I know all the things i mentioned here (sept the last one) are little but if you do them all they add up and WILL help you sell your stuff if your prices are good enough(96% of the battle)

Knowing that the stuff your pharming will be sold fast and to the same person makes farming much less depressing.

Some of this info does not work with any items that are considered high prices. (100pp or more?) or many armor peices.

<====== out of town for weeks at a time and has two diffrent traders up the whole time (at least untill there is a patch). So making PP while i am inactive and coming back to 20k is always nice... but that hasn't happened yet =(

OldEQJunkie, You are that guy that I hate in the bazaar. Do not create Ogre mules it only makes it harder in general. I hate people near the bank, I will pay extra just to avoid that mob on the corner. I hate people who are spamming come check out my stuff! It is idiotic, all traders have stuff. And if anyone has any brains they will use the serch feature, not spam. The only people I want to see auctioning are the desperate. Usually this comes about because they see a 40K item selling for 20k and they only have 15k. Thus they are desperate to unload 10 k worth of gear for 5k so they can make 15k on the other item. Or people who have no mule and just want to unload and carry on. Come look at me I really am a big dumb ogre.

Sorry for the attack but you hit on 2 or three of my most hated things in the bazaar.

While you are at it, why don't you tell them to create a bard and constantly sing AOE songs so that they will know when they are getting close..bah!!!

One of the earlier responders said that SOE made it so easy to transfer things between characters on one account. How is this done?

Once again, thanks for the help.

I can't make an ogre! Ogre's aren't...cute. Diora, the barbarian wench is semi-cute. One thing I've noticed about this game is the lack of customization on what the toons look like. I can live with that though.

One reason I made another toon was because the satchel was flagged "no drop". Does that just mean that it doesn't drop on death? I'm used to it meaning that the item can only be destroyed or given to an NPC if you no longer want to haul it around.

I won't be spamming, I haven't quite gotten the hang of the hotkeys yet, beyond hitting the forage button when I can. I also don't want to add to all the chatter.

No stacks of hundreds of things either. I hit level 6 tonight with the main toon, and had just been selling most things to the vendors so I could buy containers. I'm trying to raise money (without begging) so when the time comes to buy more spells or upgrade the armor I'll be able to.

Although I am not 100% sure, I beleive sharing items between characters requires the Legends of Yekesha (LoY) expansion.

If you have this expansion enabled when you click on a banker to open your vault you will notice two slots towards the lower right of the vault screen. Any items (including containers full of items) can be taken buy any of your characters on this server.

Three things to take note of:

1) If you do a generalized search (any seach not using a specific item name) then the results of the search may not include every instance of an item appearing in the bazaar. Example: Recently I was doing a generalized search on shaman spells. I noticed there were four Cannibilize3 spells for sell, 3 for over 1000 platinum and one for 200 plat. I figured since I would soon need this spell I should pick up the one for 200p as it seemed like a steal. After purchasing it I had forgotten what the prices were on the others and searched for them by ITEM NAME. Lo and behold many more Canni3 spells were on the market than mere seconds ago and one was priced at 50p. I've tested and concluded that ANY time you decide to purchase an item it is wise to search said item by ITEM NAME as this can turn up more results which may save a lot of money.

2)'No Drop' labeled items or containers containing No Drop items cannot be put in the shared bank slots as these items are not tradable.

3)'Lore' items can be accessed through the shared bank slots which is a very nice feature indeed. A Lore tag on an item means you can only possess one of this same item at any time on a particular character.

I've come across several very good prices in the bazaar on Lore items which I already have equipped so I just go stick my equipped Lore item in a shared bank slot so I can purchase the underpriced one and equip it. Then the next time I enter trader mode I will sell the most recently purchased Lore item for lower than than all others in the market as long as I can still make a profit. This is done to free up a shared bank slot as fast as possible because I cannot access the slot which holds a Lore item I already possess unless I create another character to remove the item (and I'm just too impatient to do this.)
