I killed at 2:27 AM and Ogre Sleeper had spawned again at around 4:04 AM. About a 90 minute respawn timer.

a sleeping ogre was indifferent to my Iksar Monk. I approached him, handed in the Breath of Gwan, and Trunt spawned.

Well for some reason he is KoS again. Tried to hand him the Breath of Gwan and he rose up and was instantly killed by a Riposte before I could complete the turn in. Gonna have to do the trick with him that I used on Brother Balatin. FD till he respawns then hand it to him as a I stand up with my back turned to him then FD to complete the turn in.

Not KoS

I had read that a sleeping ogre was KOS, that you had to sneak and hand the item in.

After killing Trunt last night, I can say that the sleeping ogre is NOT KoS. Just pull the two goblins from inside the room (and any from the side if you want) before making the hand in.

They changed that a few years back because it was causing too much trouble back when people would group in Nurga as well as when someone was trying to do epic hand in and him not be up or someone aggro on him before hand in.
Loc and respawn

woulda 65 monk and a 65 BL be able to take the 59lvl version of this guy and how much easier would a 50+ warrior OR necro be. how much does he hit for, how fast does he hit, does he have any procs, resistances, amount of HP, summons? all these answers would be helpful to me and others thanks in advance
Thanks

When Nurga revamp went live, he moved a little bit. If you use the EQAtlas map of Nurga he's now in room #1.

There are no faction adjustments for killing the sleeping ogre.

spawn location
# Dec 26 2001 at 8:48 AM Rating: Decent
I have been doing the exp grind in nurga through lvl 40. I have seen him 3 times and he always spawned near the spiders.
RE: spawn location
# Dec 29 2001 at 8:49 AM Rating: Default
He spawns in the large, usually empty (except when he spawns; about every 2 hours on a timer) central room where the spiders and nearby burynais run to when feared. I can't think of a better explanation; just fear something in the spider area and see where it eventually runs to--that's the spot.
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 22 2002 at 5:11 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) oh, thanks - he spawns near the spiders, great info. Spiders are all over the freaking place in nurga! How about a loc? Would giving a loc have been too hard for you? Geezus! You can't think of a better explanation huh?
Finally, a /loc !
# Feb 26 2002 at 1:59 PM Rating: Good

Spawns next to the wall at loc neg1180, pos400. If you hail him he will snore a bit louder and keep sleeping. Shooting an arrow into him didn't seem to bother him at all either. (I may have missed but I'm a pretty good shot.) Whacking him on the head with my 6 foot long two-handed sword woke him up and put him in a bad mood!

If you are at his spot for 3 hours and do not see him spawn, then /petition to have a GM spawn him. The sleeping ogre is notorious for spawning under the world.
Trunt
# May 01 2001 at 3:43 PM Rating: Good
Giving a Breath of Gwan to the Ogre spawns Trunt, a level 59 Ogre who is one of the last parts of the monk epic. The sleeping ogre's respawn is approx. 1 hour. He hits for only 176, but is immune to magic and attacks fast. He drops Trunt's head, which is magic, lore, no drop and weighs 20. Trunt has no faction.
He is for the monk epic
# Mar 02 2001 at 2:09 PM Rating: Default
The monk has to sneak behind him and give him an item that will turn him into a level 52 mob so be ready and take friends with you.

No Loot
# Jan 23 2001 at 9:07 PM Rating: Decent
I have killed this guy over 6 times and he has NEVER had any loot. Not even a lousy copper.

This ogre gives very good experience for his level... which always seems to be 30. (And that is even before the XP bonus went in for Nurga.)

He runs fairly easy (has only fought to the bitter end once) and will just run to his corner and face the wall when running away.
