Okay, but im tired of hearing people talk about how they hate to hear people ******** about maintanence. These are peoples opinions, we shouldn't stifle them! People are upset and thats all there is to it. It makes sense to me that this thread was started to give people a forum for how they felt, which, if you're going to take the time to post about this problem, is most likely going to be of the negative nature. So please, if you have something constructive to say, take it elsewhere :) Just kidding, I'm not looking to get a bunch of angry replies from Squeenix praisers.

lol i'll make it easier. You got a 24 hour clock. When it hits 13:00 it's 1:00. When it's 15:00 it's 3:00. 13=1, 14=2, 15=3, etc etc So you basicly recount to 12 after you pass 12:00. About 99.99999 % of you probably already know this. Now, you always got a maint. starting PST time of 10am so for eastern it always starts at 1 pm, central 12pm, mountain 11am, and pacific obviously 10am. Then in this case you add 7 hours to your starting time and you know when this ends.

I don't know what's all the fuss about prime time. Our prime time doesn't really even start til about 8pm eastern time, which is when PST folk are finally home at 5pm and you got everybody who plays FFXI daily in NA online and then perhaps those that don't play daily. Anyway, sure we eastern folk hate but it's better than having a downtime of 10 hours or more, or having it take place AT 6pm or later on OUR time. I'm damn glad it starts earlier in the day.


Let's look at Japan. It's about 8:30am there right now. Let's say at 9am FFXI is back up for them. -7 hours and maint started at 2am. Interesting, it really does start during their offpeak time! Shouldn't square like.....do it during the day lol? Poor bastards have to stay up during the night to fiddle around with the servers. All 100+ of them. Kinda seems like they are favoring their home country, the bastards ^^ How dare they!!!! Anyway, if they did maint during their time of 10am, it would be starting here at 9:00 PM(they are 13 hours ahead of us, 9pm here is 10am there) OMG!!!!!!!! HELL NO!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!! **** THAT!


So, as you can see, we are better off with the way things are now. I mean really, how many of us NA's are playing during the day right now? With adults working and kids at school? Not very many.

OMG....will this constant ******** ever end? I believe many ppl here have made it clear that there is a very good reason for 2 days worth of maintenance.

SE is trying to make this game better! Don't you get it!? FFXI is nothing but a network of servers. And just like your home PC...it can glitch and have problems. And these problems or glitches or bugs whatever you want to call them can very often take a lot of time to repair. I'm sure that some of you can understand what I'm getting at here. Quit your ****************

Ok. Everyone should know what matinence really is. It's where the FFXI Admin. get a 'Free Play' without much lag. They edit the mobs and get like 'oodles of gil and 'exp. They probably getting the last touches on their levels or something. But, thanks for the ahead-of-time notice about the extended matinence(Sarcasim)!
I am very happy that Paladins are getting raise now at level 50! After I come home from a long day of school and grueling football practice I want to relax....but, friggin' FFXI is still down. $13 a month times about 1,500,000 FFXI characters equals $19,500,000 a month in American currency. That's about $234,000,000 a year, I think our hard earned money should prevent 'lil problems like this and motovate the workers of FFXI.

this is horrible, another dang server maintenence, yesterday took all day i couldnt play before work and had to wait 2 hours to update my system, and then today another maintenence after work, man will i be angry if i need to wait through another 2 hour system update today.

Meh...maintenance does suck...but I look at it this way. This game is gonna rock after all these long drawnout updates, maintenances, and the comming if CoP. Big deal. So you all have to live in the real world for once. Deal with it. I'm sure all of you have other things you can do. Me? I sat and played Star Ocean: Till the End of Time for the last 2 days. =)

So quit your whining and complaining and deal with it.

Is there a single one of you posters that has MMORPG programming experience? Do any of you actually think that you have ANY IDEA what is involved?

Are there are any of you who actually think that this server maintenance is NOT done at the time of day that there are statistically less people on?

Is there a single one of you who actually think that SE is just sitting around counting their money while your staring at your screen spamming retry?

For those who take the "I'm a paying customer - I shouldn't have to wait" approach - I did the math, this is about 50 cents worth of game time. If you want, I'll send you a refund myself, you can grab a paper, look at the classifieds, see if you can get yourself a life.

Yeah - it sucks, I wanted to play today too. But I am NOT under the impression that the world revolves around me and I am NOT personally insulted that SE would do maintenance on "my only day off in a long time". And for those of you who may be confused, that WAS sarcasm.

Before you complain, REALLY THINK about the alternative to a system that does maintenance. One that never changes. Think - no RotZ - no advanced jobs - no summerfest - nothing. Is that really what you want, because I'm sure it would be MUCH EASIER for SE to do it that way (it would make counting the money much easier). I don't claim to have much programming experience, but I do have some, and believe me, it's absolutely friggin amazing that SE has done as good a job as they have keeping this game running.

Now, that being said - I deeply apologize for any inconvenience my message may have caused you.

Anyway, if you have to ***** about the maintnence, go ahead and do your worst, all you can do is quit, and its foolish to quit the game for a days worth of maintnence a month, but your all acting like it isn't. Bleh, gives me time to do my homework.

Okay so as if yesterday wasn't bad enough they decide to give us MORE maintanence. Then they can't get their butts in gear fast enough to even get it done on time. What the crap are they doing with their time? We all pay like what 15-25 bucks a month to play this game? According to the Vana Diel Census taken in may there are over 500,000 people playing this game. That's a butt-load of money every month! Probably more the the GDP of some countries, and yet, all this company can do is "Deeply appologize for any inconviences" it may cause. I think Squeenix owes us all more than an apology. Hell, why not credit every character a thousand gil or something. ***** it, I'm gonna go smoke-a-bowl :) Peace all.
