Nosgoth Enters Closed Alpha
Nosgoth, a competitive dark fantasy game, enters closed alpha in North America and Europe.
Nosgoth, a dark fantasy competitive game from Psyonix (published by Square Enix) is entering a closed alpha in North America and Europe. Set in the universe of the Legacy Of Kain series, the game pits humans against vampires in a desperate struggle to control the land of Nasgoth. With a range of classes (six classes have been teased) unique to each race, an array weapons and fleshed out customization options, players will need to employ teamwork and communicate with each other to face their adversaries.
Despite being a competitive multiplayer game, the land of Nasgoth has surprisingly interesting lore. In the world of Nosgoth, humans were marginalized and enslaved after they lost a war with the demonic vampires. After being forced to live in tiny settlements for many years, the humans have decided to rise up against their vampire masters and fight. While not explicitly stated, a persistant battle for the kingdom may be a game mode or feature, potentially incorporating MMO elements.
To celebrate the alpha's commencement, a small gallery of screenshots has been released. The game looks beautiful: environments have a dark, Warhammer-esque vibe, and the desperation that was so crucial to the atmosphere of the Kain games is evident. Character models are gothic, and the blood that slicks the battlefield is gruesome and plentiful. Psyonix also released a teaser trailer displaying limited gameplay as well as some lore teasers.
While the alpha invites are very limited, you can register for a chance to be selected at Nosgoth's official site.
