With either cries of gratitude or whispers of hidden love, now's the time for you to step up and open your heart! And what a better way to say "I love you" than with a one-of-a-kind present crafted with your own two hands, kupo? Huh? You're not sure what would make the perfect gift? Well, don't fret, because the Moogles of the Mog House Management Union (MHMU) recently gathered and decided we'd do our best to help our masters out, kupo! Soon, we'll be sending a special crystal to the delivery box of every adventurer in Vana'diel. By using this crystal during synthesis, you'll be able to carve your name right into the finished product, kupo! Once you've done that, all that's left is for you to take your gift to that "special someone," and let your heart do the rest, kupo! About items sent from the Mog House Management Union (MHMU) - The moogles are sending a special crystal to each adventurer. It may take time for the special crystals to arrive, so please be patient. - The Mog House Management Union (MHMU) will send special crystals only to characters created before Feb 4 2005.

I got a cyclone crystal which I can actually use since other than fishing the only craft I've done much with is woodworking sadly thoI've no one to give the end result to cuz my g/f doesn't play FFXI I guess I can always just use it and make something for myself :P

Got my Torrent Crystal yesterday. Only thing these ones are good for is status weapons using alchemy.

You know what's worse....I got a Twilight (Dark Crystal) Can I Use it? Of course not! I'm Goldsmithing skill 28 and I can't use this dumb crystal, not even on other guilds. Except if you put your signature on a sheep leather and that's it, and I don't even know if you can put a signature on this. Hey SE what the heck is going on? You have no use for the Twilight crystal at all. I rather wanted any other crystal, like Cyclone (for example).
They should had put a mog outside, and let us, the gamer should have the option to select one free HQ crystal. Then you will be all set up.
Don't you guys think this was a better idea.

Yes, unfortunately, there are very few equipment synths using Dark Crystals. Even worse, they are all skill level 70+.

If I had gotten stuck with a Twilight Crystal, I probably woulda made a signed pair of Garden Bangles with it.

lol that's what we told our cook friend to do...at least she could actually USE her crystal (ours were twilight, there are no synths besides sheep leather that we could do with them...we're not 99 alchemists -- the only craft that could use it).

You use the crystals to put your name on crafting items. They are the same color as regular crystals (i.e. Blue=water; red=fire), so I believe you will figure it out if you get one.

Everyone has an automatic crafting skill of 1. You should see what crystal you get, then look to see what you can make with it at 1. It's better to use it on higher items though, like elemental staves or something. You could always save it, and get your crafting skill up, then use it.

I got an Inferno Crystal. The only thing I can make (lvl 8 Bonecraft) is Gelatin and that sometimes failed. So I took my little Taru butt out to the guild, got support and...

failed. That made me mad. *sighs* Now my boytoy will get nothing for Valentines day. /comfort

Maybe I'm remembering wrong, but I heard that back before official wedding ceremonies, two couples who were engaged would wear the Castor and Pollux rings from the Sandy "Fit for a Prince" quest. You can remove the "ex" with a wind crystal (as far as I know, this requires *no* crafting skill) so that you can trade it. You can then carve your name on it with a cyclone crystal. The rings are otherwise worthless, but they are unique. Just an idea for those of you who can't craft.

Both my mules got the Fire crystal. I haven't checked main yet. But I'm leveling cooking with one mule and hopefully I can get to a decent level and make a good non-stackable item for someone.
