I just saw the new Terminator movie. It's not too terrible. I really only saw it because Emilia Clarke is in it. I was curious to see if she could manage in a role other than her GoT character. I'd say she did a fairly good job as Sarah Connor. The actor they chose for Kyle Reese, not so much. He pretty much just had to stand around and look good and be confused for half the movie, and while he did that well, when it came to something more serious, I just didn't buy it.
As to the story, it wasn't bad, just as long as you can suspend all logic. Anyone that's seen a few time travel shows/movies will be able to instantly spot several paradoxes that never really get resolved. For the most part the action scenes are well done, except for the helicopter chase scene. It was all CGI and looked it. Overall, I enjoyed the movie, though T2 is still the best of the series, so don't go in expecting it to be better, because it's not.

I've been seeing trailers and commercials for this for months now and I'm still confused. What is this movie exactly? Is it a sequel? A reboot? A crazy reimagining of T2? Some combination of all of those? I just can't figure it out.
I don't think many people are going to argue that.
IMO Termintor is one of those series that never should have been a series to begin with. Sometimes people don't understand of the concept of "just because more stuff happens afterwards doesn't make the story not over." It doesn't matter if humanity won the war against the machines. That wasn't the point of the story (see also, The Matrix.) T3, T4, and really even T2 despite it's awesomeness, never really needed to be made.
