What EVERYONE seens to fail to realize is that this is a self sustaining economy. SE doens't put items in the AH, nor buy any. Also, along with real economies, some people get rich off of it. If you see someone walking down the street with millions of dollars because he invested in the right thing at the right time, do you put him down and tell him he is a greedy *******? Do you frown upon him and then never talk to him again? Hiptaru did a very intelligent thing and he, as he said, is not soley responsible for jacking up the price of the astral rings. It is the same on every server (about the same).

So wow, give hiptaru a break. And no, I am not a crony of his, I have never even talked to him online before. This is just an honest look at what events transpired.

Alright, im just adding one more thing cause this is really pissing me off(and i don't get mad that often). Why the childish rate-downs? You trolls need to show your damn faces in the forum instead of just randomly knocking players that back someone you don't like. For Christ's sake grow the f*ck up!

I know it's hard to do, and we all get annoyed when we see ratings drop.

I never rate any more, but I almost always smile when I see my rating drop. You have to understand that when people rate you down without a reply it is for a few specific reasons.

1) You said something that got to them, perhaps you made a good point that went against their beliefs, or perhaps you managed to **** someone off.

2) They are to incompitent to post an inteligent reply, however, they have figured out how to use their mouse well enough to navigate to this web site and click a few buttons on the screen.

So don't be upset when you see your ratings drop, just remember you did something well, made a good point, or expressed your opinion in a manner someone disagrees with. When your ratings drop you can be assured you made a good point and the offended can take no other action than to rate you down.


Lastly though, don't complain about karma. It just makes those who rated you down feel like they got their revenge. Ignore it and it will go away.

Shiver me timbres, this is a riot. You can rate people down? lol that's hillarious. I never even noticed. I rate people up when a really good post catches my eye ^^ rating them down just causes needless whining and crying. I think I've actually rated maybe 3 posts on this forum ever. all of them were rate ups. So ladies, and younger ladies, Pull your head or whoevers head is currently up your *** out :p. We'll all feel better.

First off id just like to state that Singular rules. He has never been anything but nice and helpful to me. I think he is a fine example of what decent players should be like. You should start your own LS Sing!

As far as the OP is concerned. Why does hip go after Tse? Do you think it is really because he put up an astral ring is his bazaar for 750k or whatever it was? (are you daft) It is because Tse went after Hip. You canna throw stones and not expect to have them thrown back. Aside from the fact that if you take a good look through these forums you will see Tse has absolutely no problem with making other people look bad in any way that is available to him. That being said I have never hung out with Tse in game (he may be actually be a real nice person in the game),so I have to base this opinion on is how he portrays himself here. Which is eletist at best. Tse, I am not saying that you are wrong for defending yourself, or that your friends are wrong for coming to your defense. I would (and AM) do the same for myself or one of mine. Just be aware that the second that you pooped your head in to do so, that you just made Hip's day.

And as a another statement it is hypocritical to insult someone for jacking prices and have a price jack on your players bazaar at the same time. You can try and justify it by saying that 50k over is a fair jack or a little more here and there when you have the item up on the AH. Who are any of you to say when its OK to inflate the price and try and get more and when its deserving of ridicule? I know there are alot of responses possible here, but there is arent many answers ive seen on these forums that are actually fair answers.

A fair amount of this community has an obbsession with judgment.

And to the HNMLS community that deinied hip based on his greed.I pose this to you. You talk about your special communities based uopn the bonds of trust and friendships. I say all HNMLS is based on GREED. HNMLS is based on the concept that FFXI is a job (as in something you would get paid for). It is representative in the fact that you have to go to work (events) to get points to buy the stuff you want (that extra leet equipment!). So I wont be paying heed to any comment from ANY HNMLS calling anyone greedy when your entire in game social heirarchy is based upon aquisition and segregation.

Hiptaru personally came and spent all of his free time in RL life for two days straight (Almost 24 RL hours) helping all kinds of folks get their lich paper for g1. Almost 30 people came out from Hiptaru and HipnotikNation. Most of them suffered at least one death and spent hours of their personal time helping people they barly knew and some people they didnt know get one of the most annoying quests in the game done. And there are no 6 million gil drops there. No benefit. This was purely out of kindness and comradery towards the FFXI community. I received this help without even asking for it.

Of course Hip gave the money back. Hes a nice person. Everyone in Hips LS is a nice person. There is no LS drama, everyone helps everyone (just as often its people not in the LS that are getting helped as often as its LS members that are). They have events that everyone can paricipate in. At this point I dont even care if I never get to go to sky or whatever else becomes your priveledge for being HNMLS, becuase I have so much fun just being apart of the comunity that I am a member of, that i dea of sitting in rooms for hours with 30 of my greedy peers and 60-70 other greedy folks from other greed conglomerations waiting for a pop with twitchy fingers waiting to pounce on 1 monster that may or may not drop the object that everyone in the room lusts after is just alien to me. That doesnt seem like any fun at all. Now im sure there is some comradery to be had when your group snatches that target. And it inefficient to boot. I wonder how much money that all the folks camping Serket could make if they actually applied themselves to making money instead of sitting and waiting.

I just dont understand the appeal.IF I had to make a choice of never getting to see those parts of the game or having to experience them with people like some of the folks in some of the HNMLS's that ive seen on these boards, that I think I would opt to just not see them and enjoy the rest of my time in this game instead of having bitter memories of it. Well im done.

I am perfectly ok getting stoned ... ... ... (puns can be funny) and as such i defended myself. if i do something wrong and someone wants to call me out on it then thats fine, i will defend myself of course, which is what i did here.

I do have no problem ******** about other people. I also praise people when they do a good job.

With regards to jacking prices. what a few people dont seem to realize is this: I did not buy out/flood the market with a bunch of items. I am simply reselling an item, a single item, i have had for some time for a high price because i no longer need it. I'm trying to level goldsmithing and it is not cheap so 50k gets me another 2/3 of an ingot (approx).

If someone wants to make a post about me being a greedy ******* then feel free, don't tack a little comment on to the end of what could have been a good debate/conversation just to "see a reaction".

If you post about me good/bad i will respond, if i post about you good/bad i expect you will respond as well. I will do this everytime, no matter what. so if that makes me a puppet someons game or whatever then fine, its not gonna stop me from posting.

Now you all know i posted about hip's rings way back. what alot of you don't know is that several PM's went back and forth between us over it. What you also don't know is that they were not hostile, they were in fact apologetic and based around forming a truce and not being at each others throats.

These were mutual we both were trying to get past the BS, and up until this post i was under the impression that hip and I were on good terms. I even asked some advise on BLM and based on his word even PT'd with Infamouskiller once for Bastok 7-1 (don't ask).

A few people have told me i dont need to post to defend myself. thank you for that but the fact is for my own mentality i do need to defend myself.

Well this got bumped anyhow so f[/b]uck it. Please ponder my edit below.

I'm just editing this post cause I don't feel like bumping this thread, nor do i need to have the last word, but everyone missed the point with this post. Yes it shows Hip getting pwned, but the real point was that he was artifically raising the price by removing the previous AH entries, which at the time were about 500,000 gil, which Hip had already inflated from 250,000 gil. So in my humble opinion Hiptaru lost this "Test of Greed" long ago. He was so not just "drunk tossing gil around."

I am not sure what you are used to sir, but kissing *** is not a prereq for most people to join an LS. Maybe YOU had to kiss *** to convince people to let you into their LS (or whatever you have going on), but lets not assume that evryone is like that. I applied to Hips LS because I spoke with some of the people in the LS and I found them to be pleasant. They are very nice people and I usually look forward to the time that I spend with them. Do I kiss their ***? nope. In fact im kind of rude. I speak my mind to them, and in the thread that you say I was kissing up in I was just speaking my mind to Alla. If you disagree with me then why dont you place an opinion of your own instead of trying in vein to dilute, devalue, or discredit mine.

And speaking of the thread once more that you mentioned. The only reason I even bothered to post in it in the first place was because of the very unfriendly attitude displayed there by some of the posters. And my post in that thread was about fraternity and Hips right to post his opinion, not a defense of his actions. Just because you are an obedient lapdog and post (usually negatively I might add) in any instance your LS gets even the smallest amount of aggro dont assume that everyone shares your logic.

and as far as your crybaby stance is concerned, I find that attitude to be typical here. "I dont like what this person is saying. So instead of argueing the point and making my voice heard, I will just call names and ridicule, because I have nothing of any quantifiable to value to add to the conversation" These subjective pangs into other peoples opinions have been used in political campaigns for years. By placing a belittleing adjective in front of someone elses opinions, I can desubstanciate them without even having to take the effort of forming a stance of my own. Well I dont buy it.In my eyes all it is is just a show of your own lack of valued topic.

All that being said, that is however one of your more pleasant posts and I commend you on at least attempting to be nice. You should keep it up.(I beleive there still may be hope for you).

EDIT #2: (once again istead of making a new post) Cannedweasel my intent was not to offend. It was to point out that HNMLS is in fact based on the idea of aquisition. If thats what you need to make your game complete then thats fine. I t doesnt make you a *******. I have friends in game that are in HNMLS and I dont think them shallow or bad people or bad players. Sure friendships can form there just like any other LS. If I have offended you or any of the NIce players in HNMLS (and I know they exsist I have spoken to some of them on these boards and quite a few of them in game)then I apologize. I was pointing out my distaste of the HNMLS sytem in general and trying to impress the idea that an HNMLS participant does it at least partially for gain..so it doesnt make sense to me to have some of those same players give greif to others about greed. does that clarify it for you a little bit?

Goblobsters, I really have to disagree with what you said about the origin of HNM linkshells being based in greed. Not only did you just insult any person in an HNMSLS of basically being a greedy f@$*, I don't think you fully understand them. I'm not HNM level myself, but I do have a number of friends who are, and as I understand it being in an HNMLS will cost you a hell of a lot of money. You're buying cursed gear, situational gear (i.e. MND+ gear for MNK), and exceptional foods, just off the top of my head. Personally, I just want to one day get some good rare/ex HNM gear for my MNK, or possibly WAR/NIN, and cursed gear. I in no way expect to profit overall. Also, some HNMLS's are groups of friends who started killing HNMs to get the gear that they and their friends needed, not to "keep down the little guy" by selling ridiculously priced items that you don't really need. Besides, the point system is a fair and reasonable way for people to get the items they want, as opposed to harsh feelings all around by some potential "greedy HNM *******" who just showing up for whatever drop they want, and leaving everyone else hanging.

I apologize if I misunderstood your intent by using HNMs as a corollary to the Hiptaru debate, but I just felt that needed to be said to defend all of the good, generous, fun-loving people in HNM shells...as well as a few bastards. :P
