HNM drama goes here.Follow

#27 Feb 20 2005 at 4:35 AM Rating: Decent
Most of the drama is from 2 sources and sometimes they are the same problem:

1. People not talking to each other in game. Some LS's have a great friendship and some dont. But when it comes down to the problems at camps, the people in charge of the raids need to talk to each other to keep misunderstandings from happening, and when a mistake is made or a rogue player does something wrong, than they should work it out, not bring it to a public flame forum, all that does it get more people upset and create divides.

2. Claim System: I dont mind the claim system, but the way you can loose claim. I think when you have the ability to take something down and run the risk of it going white and having it stolen is kinda a crappy loop hole. It seems like that was done on purpose, but it leads too a lot of problems if someone or a group of people do not respect the right of claim which is a player created system. Also, not every LS will honor the last man standing rule, which I feel goes back to raid leader talking. Also the last man standing rule has many problems, depending on how the rule is viewed and even if another LS at the camp with honor that player created rule.

Again, I think it just goes back to leadership talking with leadership and being respectful of each others time. As far as one person flaming an entire LS for some disagreement, well you can never stop one person. Also, thinking an entire LS acts like someone rogue person is also out of control on the boards. Many of us belong to LS's were players are from all over the world, to be able to truely know everyone and everything about someone isnt possible, many times you invite the worng person in and that one bad apple does something that gets flamed on the forums and the entire LS is given the same rep. We all have people in our LS's who act up and sometimes are more vocal and less humble than what should be. There is no way to get over that. Of course you can kick people, but we all know from time to time we have to put up with some crap until you have a replacement, it may not be the best choice to keep someone, but if you have to take care of 40+ people and at times kicking a job isnt going to help the LS, until you can replace that person with the right person.

I think forums can be a great tool to help people get over problems, but I wish it was in a less public format, I think when people pile on when these threads are made it doesnt help anyone. I know people feel they have a right to post and by all means they do, but when you do not understand the context the of problem it is hard to make an accurate post about what really happened and how to fix the problem, again just talk in game, it is amazing how fast problems are fixed when people actually return /tells.

(This scene opens, Fafnir is sitting on a chair talking on the phone to Darter)

Fafnir: Man, everytime I show up in the Aery to visit you I get attacked by these retarded adventurers.

Darter: Yeah, we try and keep them out but we can only see them if they attack us, tricky bastards.

Fafnir: Me and my main man 'Hogg just wanna come drink some beers with you guys but those jerks get all up ons and we gotta leave. And, they always take some of our bling if we got any on us!

Darter: Yeah, we try to help you guys sometimes but there's always more.

Fafnir: We should so go somewhere else.

Darter: Man, this has been my home for almost five years now. It'd be a shame to leave because of some rude neighbors.

(Phone beeps)

Fafnir: Call waiting, hold on!

(clicks reciever)

Behemoth: Man, the king decided to go outside again and they're beating him down!

Fafnir (slaps face): Great Genbu's Ghost! Send the gil sellers to try and stop them!

(music flares)

Behemoth: Fafnir! What a good idea! Hope it works this time!!!!!

Fafnir: I've been thinking lately, What if we send our robots to EVERY lucrative spot in vana'diel! We could take over the world!!

(scene ends)

question for other HNMLS's out there. What is your take on ettiquette when fighting Gods?

The situation was we had 3-4 people up on the island with us while we were getting ready to fight one of them (seriyu or suzaku i forget which) who refused to leave after we asked nicely if they could wait down below. I mean none of us knew them and didnt know if they could be trusted.

IMO this was just rude, but maybe its just me and this sort of action is normal. I mean we have had individuals up there ask if they could stay and we said sure, they were polite and made sure we were cool with it.

It's not that we dont want people watching its just that with all the BS today we want to fight in peace without worrying about some idiot stealing a god from us. There's a reason SE made the portal seal itself once the fight starts.
