I was recently in a dungeon and was tanking when I couldn't keep the aggro on me. The warrior was always taking it from me and the healer had left. Everyone was saying that you couldn't blame the healer for leaving. I don't know what I can do to keep aggro better. I am almost level 45 and here is a link to my armory page http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/ghostlands/Ironslayer/advanced Can anyone give me tanking advice or am I just not cut out for it?

I usually use my taunt, then Avenger's Shield, then a mix of my other abilities. Thanks again.

Taunt isn't a threat builder. It forces a mob to target you for 5 seconds (iirc) but otherwise does very little for you. You use it to keep a mob on you while you do emergency threat building.

If you could be more detailed about your rotation and your problem, people could help. Are you having issues in AoE only, or are you losing bosses too?

Bosses are usually ok I can keep them on me, its only in groups of mobs that I have issues. What kind of abilities can I use, since the rotation I am using obviously isnt helping. I am honestly thinking of going straight DPS, not as much pressure.

First off, do you have Righteous Fury on? Sorry but I do have to ask that...

Hand of Reckoning should put you at the top of the aggro table and give you a little wiggle room. It's almost going to be useless to start with, like Diglett says it generates very little (if any?) actual threat if you're already tops on the list, or if you're using it to pull. However it'll help you out a bunch if you start losing a mob to others. Just Avenger's Shield (or use Exorcism I guess, do the prot versions even have anything else ranged? It's escaping me atm.), Consecration for the multiple baddies, and remember your defensive CDs. Smiley: grin

These days, if you have your threat generation ability (Righteous Fury) turned on, and the dps had his (Defensive Stance) turned off, then you should be holding aggro. You should be producing so much threat that it should be very difficult for the mobs to peel off of you.

That said, you can't stand around and do nothing. You should be autoattacking, using your Avenger's Shield to pull, and using Shield of the Righteous to spend your holy power. Use Hammer of the Righteous pretty much on cooldown as well. Basically, you need to always be up in the mob's face, keeping its attention. That should help a lot.

Always always always make sure Righteous Fury is on when tanking, and off when dpsing. That will ***** up what you're doing BIG TIME otherwise.

Edit: I'm an idiot that doesn't look at dates.
