Whenever you die, your gear takes damage.

Does cauterize cause the mage to take two times the gear fatigue due to the fact that technically you die twice.

*I was in H.VC and I blinked off the boat. So I had to run back after her first "Swing" thing. So I tried to use shields to get throught he fire, but that wasn't happening... I Cauterized twice (Both times dying). I never looked at the repair bill though later.

**Using Cauterize as a "DPS Boost" or situationally in Progression Content is going to be tough. You die very quickly and I'm not sure if healers are putting it on their 'status' bars via Healbot or whatever they are using. I was tanking and the mage ate a Corbius hit. I assumed the healer realized he would 1. Die from the hit and 2. Come back via Cauterize. The healer said he missed the hit and just though the mage was at low health. He didn't realize that the mage had died and come back via Cauterize...

It shouldn't because it should bring you back up to your % when you take what would be a killing blow, you don't go to 0 and then back up. I don't remember testing it though.

You dont die when cauterize procs, you get your health back to 40% and the debuff when your hp hits 0, so no repair costs.
Btw i always save ice block for cauterize, it removes the debuff so i dont need a healer immediatly after. Maybe bandage or evocate (glyph) when necessary.
For messy AOE or other aggro related problems i use invis, the 3 sec fade time is short enough and usually in the first "tick" of invis the mobs / boss go back to the tank anyway.
