I just got mana tide on my shaman and I'm strugling to learn how to use it properly. When is the proper time to drop it? It's not very good when you're oom and even dropping it at 50% seems to be living dangerously.

Any information would be appreciated.

Mana tide gives you 24% of your mana in 12 sec. You should NEVER use it when at 50%, and its great when you are OOM.

Use it as often as you can, 50% is fine but if you think your gonna be getting to a boss soon and you may need it try to save it for then. Too many resto shaman's get this and only use it when they are oom on a boss fight the cooldown is not that long and it can be used to speed up pulls.

If your soloing, drop it when your getting low on mana, like around 20%. It will help you to not drink as much.

Generally I will drop my trinket from ST, then my mana tide (longer cooldown), but now that im at level 64 and have water shield, I rarely use my mana tide. My water shield will keep me going forever IF i can manage to remember to keep applying after each fight.

So in other words, use it when your at 20% mana, and your soloing. When you main healing a group, drop it when your in tight spots. :) I hope that helps.

I see what your guys mean but most resto shaman never drop it unless they are on a boss. I think its fine to drop as much as you want safely in groups as long as you have done it acouple times and know when to save it for when tougher pulls or boss fights are comming up the only thing i would look out for is making sure your not the only one in group that needs it. Its quiet useful when you know an instance enough that you and your group are good enough to speed through it. Just my opinion.
