Also yes bows are sick when you fully spec the line.
It sucks that bow is not really an option outside a finesse build. In order to get all the related skills you need to invest 56 points in finesse.
I'm working on a full might build and wanted to use a bow for secondary weapon but that's way too many points just to make the longsword/bow combo viable. I'll have to rethink my options for secondary weapon. I guess I could only get the first 2 tiers but not sure how efficient that would be.
56 is definitely still in hybrid territory. Shadowcaster, the final Finesse/Sorcery build is 55 in each. Dunno if you can get more points than 110, but you can definitely get +to finesse Twists of Fate that would keep you topped up. You'd gain mana back from crits and a poison teleport that helps keep you out of range, and poisons everything chasing you down.
Blademaster is 55 Might/Finesse. Pretty high damage buffs, among other things. No particularly new utility, but it ups your shield's defensive power. Snipe everything you can from afar and then whip out a hammer or something?
Jack of All Trades' Universalist destiny unlocks all weapon mastery abilities, so you don't NEED to put points in bow skills at all.
Yeah, to get your best bow skills and the best hybrid destiny, you need to be max level. But I don't see why that would be an issue, to tell you the truth. Obviously that would be the case.
[EDIT]
Oh, you meant for a full might build. I don't really see the issue, to tell you the truth. Might is built around being the most solid melee range spec. You get the strongest defenses and area of attack weapons. Giving them ranged options too would be way too OP, imo.
I mean, realistically, it would be a huge dampener on the fidelity of Finesse. Might is the melee build that gets shield skills, huge area weapons, strong single-opponent weapons, and higher defenses. Add in bows and they get increased range options.
What would that leave Finesse? Really, just fast attacks. Even without weapon skills, assassinations are available (and will, realistically, be about as powerful realistically speaking--you should 1-shot just about everything Finesse does). And a Might character can stealth just as good (or better... or worse) than a Finesse one.
That really just leaves fast attacks and poisons. And neither are significant enough advantages to counter how powerful might would be if they also got to fight at any range. They need SOME cons. :P
