Fine... it seems that I ruffled some feathers.

I only asked because if you shutdown this site's DB and you force people to go to WoWhead (which is NOT a bad site, so if I made it seem that way I apologize.) for their dataz... it will make some people not go because the site doesn't work well for them.

I am just saying... I didn't mean any disrespect.

So will this fix all of the things that Wowhead has listed wrong (and I am not even talking about the new stuff... but the old stuff that is still in the game) and what is listed correct on this site and Thottbot? (and vice versa) ...and no, I don't want to use wowreader or whatever every single time I want to play the game.

Will it also fix Wowhead's problem of not showing up correctly in some browsers? I use IE in some places and Firefox in other places. I have not had Wowhead to work in IE (whatever version I was using) for a looonnnngggg time), but works 100% in Firefox. (I am seriously not trying to get input on what browsers I should be using, because I don't care what 'you' think is the better browser.... but I usually use Firefox 85% of the time.)

Yeah, I am nit-picking.

this really isn't the place for this. ZAM may be sister-sites, but you should ask those questions over on Wowhead.

Yay for integrated ZAM and WoWhead!

Is it just me, or did WoWwiki/Wowpedia suddenly become useless and obsolete?

I've tried, 5 different times, to look up stuff on those two and they just plain didn't have anything on it whatsoever at all. I think they are suffering from the divided playerbase or something.

Meanwhile, WoWhead had just about everything I've needed to know since 4.0.1, so I think I'm going to end up making a switch to WoWhead.

Sad thing of it is, WoWhead doesn't seem to cover the Lore-side of WoW... kinda wish it did, then we wouldn't need WoWWiki/Wowpedia.

Wowpedia is, like Wikipedia, based on user contribution. I mostly use it to find out stuff about macros, rewards from a certain faction, or lore. The main point is, if no one contributes to it then it won't evolve.

Upon finding the information you needed on Wowhead, did you then create an article for it on Wowpedia? Probably not, which is why it's not there.

Hey all -

I just wanted to point out that we went ahead and adjusted the front page of wow.akz to more fully embrace the upcoming Cata expansion and our new focus on forums. The first thing (besides the ad) you should see in the right hand column is a recent posts box. This is a pretty simple and small change, but I think it's a bit more in line with what we're trying to do here.

I'm open to any questions, so feel free to toss them my way. This will be a pretty significant change, so I don't expect all unicorns and rainbows, but I do think that they're a positive change and that hopefully, with more time to devote on the user experience, we can attract more users and really push this WoW community as a positive place to be outside of the official forums.

So, how's that going?

Oh snap.

Although, this place is definitely the best place to be in terms of everything, ever. BDT is where it's at.

By the way, is it just me, or did I seem ******* furious when I wrote the posts above? My god, I couldn't even read the entire thing without shamefully glancing down - it felt like I was being scolded by my 4th grade teacher again.

It's just that if you don't have anything to say then you shouldn't say anything. Telling us 'significant changes' will occur at some point and that it'll not be 'all unicorns and rainbows' is really not doing anything except stir up stuff. As this post shows.

No, Maz, sadly you pretty much nailed it. The odds were against it being anything but a suit's version of "the check is in the mail" and unless I blinked and missed something that's how it has played out. It annoyed me enough that I bookmarked the thread and I noticed it today as I was cleaning out old bookmarks. The change was reasonable enough, the BS was unnecessary though.

There were good intentions and a fair amount of effort into building the community, the fact is the board had already gone really quiet and none of the community involvement stuff really took off. Wasn't BS though.

Smiley: dubious If you guys worked for a Chinese company, I'd worry. That's the way things play out over here. Boss makes airy promises, promises don't happen, someone else steps in to explain, there were good intentions, actually it was the fault of society.
